Ippo is a poor kid who is always teased by his upperclassmen. Boxing heavyweight champion Takamura Mamoru saves Ippo from the bullies and takes him to the gym. Ippo becomes interested in boxing, and he seems to carry a great potential. From that day, the journey has begun!
