haha, anyone that says Clannad sucks is just immature. They're trying to go against everyone that obsesses over all KyoAni series (Kanon06, Air, Lucky Star, Suzumiya Haruhi). They think that by demoting this that maybe they can bring attention to other series, but thats just ignorant. "Don't knock it til you try it."

I'll admit, after watching Kanon06 and seeing the promo for Clannad, I did get all excited and anxious for it to air, but that was clearly since I just finished watch Kanon and it was plain awesome... however after watching Clannad along side many of this season's other ongoing series, I wouldn't say this is the best, yet I definitely wouldn't say it sucks.
