Well... it is quite different from the manga, although the thing before the Mukuro's part they actually fooling around... but not too lively as the anime and there's a scene in manga that did not been adapted to anime too. I think the manga is much more fun in the first part before the actual battles begins (of course the manga is still much more thrilling than the anime when the battles begins too ^^).
You could try check it out on onemanga.com for quick reading then you will understand what I mean ^^
