The one that comes to mind the strongest is Winter of Fire by Sherryl Jordan. It's a young adult fantasy novel and I read it when I was nine. It follows the story of a young girl born into a slave race who are horribly oppressed, and how even though it costs her a lot, she spends her entire life speaking out against these injustices and trying to change them. I know, it's not a proper philosophical book or anything, but I learnt a lot about justice, courage and the evils of prejudice and oppression of any kind from that book, and I think I carry those lessons with me to this day. |
