I kinda like both endings... the ending in the movie because he dies and leaves the cure to the children (which indeed makes him a legend) but also the alternative ending because it is so emotional and sticks more to the book.
I think I'm going to read the book. Like the man said on firstshowing.com, Robert should be alone. Is the ending of the book, Robert driving away from New York?
