That's a great question! It all depends on how you want to use your disk. A DVD can be burnt as a movie DVD (meaning it can be played in most home DVD players) or a data DVD (meaning it contains the physical data files burnt onto it. This DVD will not work in most stand-alone players). If you want backups of your anime, or you watch it mostly on a computer, then stick with the AVI files and burn it as a data DVD. If you plan on taking these files and watching them on a TV at someone's house, then burn it as a movie DVD. You can fit more anime episodes in the data DVD format than the movie DVD format, as the latter greatly enlarges the file sizes.
