Anime Name: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Genre: Comedy, Science Fiction, Supernatural

Subbed/Dubbed: subbed by a.f.k. fansub group

Review: What first drew me to watch TMOHS is the bunny suit that Mikuru Asahina was wearing from the first episode ... and from there I was drawn to the wacky antics of HS ... I wanted to see what she would be up to next.

I was at first confused because the time frame of the story was jumping around ... especially in episode 3 where Yuki Nagato told Kyon that she was an alien ... and then episode 4 where the SOS Brigade competed in a baseball game ... and then back to the scene between Yuki and Kyon in episode 5 ... but it's part of the charm of the series that left you saying WTF happened!?

... of course, I personally have been interested in paranormal fiction like espers, aliens and time travellers so the appeal of the series magnifies

... but realization of the amazingness of the series was made to me by episode 13 when Haruhi was telling her realization of her insignificance in the world ... "just a drop in the ocean" ... but because of this realization, she tried to turn her life around and made things happen ... my favorite quote from the entire series; "Nothing fun will happen if you sit around waiting" ... and it's so true ... a lot of people complain that they are bored, or they don't like the way things are going, but they're not doing anything about it ... it's about being proactive ... taking the initiative and doing things for yourself ... don't wait for time to pass you by ... if you want to do something ... just do it ... live your life to the fullest ... this I think is the spirit of Haruhi Suzumiya.
