My ps2 console works only ones is a day. It won't work once if it is turned off for the whole day.It is a modded ps2. What is the reason? Should I buy a new one?

it's probably modded badly, ask the guys that modded it to check it the problem probably lies there

That or its gettin old. I had mine for 3 and a half years and last april it died out. Though, its had stuff spilled on it, its been kicked, its fallen of numerous coffee tables and was even spit in (all by my idiot sister [Yea, she tried to spit in it to clean it]). Might need to buy a new one.

PS2 is really cheap now. It's only $129.99. Heck, the PSP's even more expensive! So I guess it's better if you just buy a new one.

Hell, go to a pawnshop and get one for $50 and itl last a year or two. After that youll pretty much be forced to upgrade to next-..No, now-gen anyways.

Your problem may depend on what kind of PS2 mod it is. Is it a physical chip (hard mod) or a soft mod? Each would require different testing and procedures.

If the warrant is still on it I would sell it to a pawn shop and take that money and by a new Ps2. Other than that I would suggest to buy a new one. They are cheap these days.

buy a used one off of ebay for cheap. Or have someone check to make sure modchip isnt messing it up.

If the warrant is still on it

If its hard modded it will have lost it straight away.

My Ps2 died other month (un modded lasted 8 years) modded ones die quicker, just get a new one if you can.

LOL... go online and install PCSX2. If you can still dump your bios onto your PC, then do so. If not, then download it. THIS IS NOT ILLEGAL. You actually own a Sony PS2 bios yourself. It's in the PS2 you own. Though this only works if:

1. Your PC supports it
a. DVD Drive (main component)
b. hardware

2. your willing to have some games that won't work. PCSX2 still has some games that don't work (someone have some context to relate to)?

3. willing to get a gamepad or alrdy own one (good), or use keyboard, or other inputs.

Get a PS3? or PS2, which both can play ps2/1 backups quite easily with boot up software. Swapmagic. If you do plan to get a PS2, you should get one cheap. Its for sure gonna be gone soon, as games will be under no support after 09. I think you're better off getting a PS3 anyhow, or at least a used, refurbished ps2.

Bought my ps2 2 years ago, and its starting to slow down. Hasn't been abused in anyway though. Its been never dropped, nothing has spilled on it. Dust though can be a culprit =/.
