I was able to recently, buy a cheap $10 component cable for my PS2. It's some bootleg crap designed in actuality for the PS3. Trust me, it's bootleg; looks like a crappy chinese duplicate of the real PS3 Cables.
Anyways, I was able to run this cable by using my composite cable > getting into GT4 > Set it to 1080i > Change cable to component. And Voila. It works and it looks amazing compared to the old 480i. I never thought the PS2 had so much potential. GT4 looked f***ing amazing!
Really annoying though. Isn't the PS2 capable of running off composite from boot? I set the preferences in the menu from RGB to Component (??/??/??/??), rebooted the PS2. The TV is pitch black. No screen. Is this natural, or is it the cable?

(not sure of modchip model)

EDIT: NVM, I found a solution... or what I think counts as a solution.
