Forum upgrade

Just upgraded the forum to the latest version, templates are all outdated so we'll have to pick some new templates!

Maybe it is just me but I can't get to the forum overview i just get the activity stream which is not very informative I think...

Nope this seems to be a problem for everyone who still uses one of our older skins..
Switching to the VB default skin should of course fix most problems.. But for some reason or another it's impossible to switch skins from the older skins.

Go here to change your default theme http://www.animea.net/forums/profile.php?do=editoptions you'd find the option to change skins under Miscellaneous Options you should be using the Default
Style till some more skins are ready to use,the forum overview page is http://www.animea.net/forums/forum.php from now on.

i was having the same problem too. i didn't realize aa updated since i was gone. i guess this is a new feature i have to get used to. it shouldn't be all that bad, but overall... it's all good. as long as i'm able to see what's new in the forums, group, and get to my animea manga list... then it is fine *smiles*.

Is the chat box staying this time? I remember a while back that we previously had a chatbox but it got taken away due to some people abusing it. Or is it simply going through a trial period?

Or is it simply going through a trial period?Well, Monz came up with the idea to bring the chatbox in, and I choose chatango,since it had more moderation options, so things won't get out of hand like it did in the past.

All smods will be mods on the chatbox as well.

Everytime you click forums it should take you to the forum overview at the moment we can't do nothing about the gray quick reply box but once we find some styles to use with this newly upgraded forum it should make it less of an eye sore for your eyes, btw I found our old style here --> http://www.completevb.com/demovb4/support/ but it's not a free one, that seems to be updated to version 4.2.0 of vBulletin.

Wow, I was a little confused there for a second. It's definitely easier to find new and active threads, but I had to change skins in order to find out where I was. xD

As for the Chatbox, I think this should to be said especially coming from me. What happened to the chatbox three years ago, I generally don't like to speak of because most of the community knows that I played a part in getting the chatbox removed along with other members. Since that is in the past, I hope people will respect that I will not comment on the gritty details.

This being said, most of the 'old users' who've caused trouble in the past I've kept in touch with. We've grown up a bit in the past years (as we were all around the same ages), some of us have gotten married, some of us have had children. I can speak for most of the old users when I say, that we are not interested starting any trouble, whatsoever. Nor are we interested in any drama for that matter on Animea. We too, would love to see a chatbox come back and be successful in bringing people to the forums.

I've seen a lot of the current members being really positive about the forum, leaving great comments and posts. These people should be able to have a service that allows them to chat with each other, IF the staff thinks it's fit for the Animea. I think the fact that the mods will be on chat is a great call, and it will also allow the users to get to know and appreciate the mods as well. I know most of you guys if not from years ago, presently... and I think it would be cool to be able to see you on chat.

If chat is not your thing, you don't have to necessarily take part in it. I've seen some comments on how 'it will be too much to scroll' with, but last time there was a chatbox, they had the quick-chat method, and it was a very small box at the top of the forum... ideal for no scrolling, and no lagging.

I personally don't know if I'll be a regular on the chatbox if it comes back, but I do know... that the good times, the humorous chats, the knowledgeable conversations, and the friendships that came out of there were well worth having the chatbox on there.

If it's decided that there's not to be a chat on AA, that's fine. Like many members mentioned, the spam area is booming, and people are getting along just fine the way the forum is now. :D I think it's a plus either way....

I'm understanding that you're still stuck in the old skin.
The chatbox only shows up in the default VB skin right now cause all others have been broken since the last forum upgrade.

To change to this skin you'll need to go here: http://www.animea.net/forums/profile.php?do=editoptions
If you scroll down a bit there you can pick your default forum skin.
Sorry that it's so hard to find but the upgrade also broke the easy skin switcher and the quick link to these settings ^^'

Thanks, LOL. I found it. :D I still like the forum upgrade though... there's a lot of buttons that make it easier to navigate, and see updated things. :3

I googled a bit and there seems to be very little of skins for free (actually I didn't find a single one I liked for free)
and the ones that pay are like 20-30$ a pop....

yeah there are virtually no skins that are free, but that's not a problem =)

if you see a skin you like you can send a message to vin with a link or something, then he can see if it'll work

I think the chatbox should be added to the "AnimeA" theme since it's been upgraded and now the default style of the forum and "Activity Stream" shouldn't be the default forum page when people go to the forum it, should stay with the "forum overview" and the quick style chooser seems to be messed up. ;o it doesn't display the list to the other installed themes.

I have to say I'm with you on this one, North. I've noticed that in one of the skins there is 'Array' where the medals used to be? I haven't participated in any of the competitions, but since noticing the medals on some of the user's information, I've gotten curious and I've gone to check out some of the competitions and even voted in them. I understand that the staff is busy and all, so I don't mean to come back with issues ofc. I just thought the medals were kind of cool, and very well-deserved. :)
