http://www.liliumproject.com/

Did you guys know that these guys are putting together the Elfen Lied Music box? So far they have the motors, the little thing that makes the song go, its 23 note and here is a sound clip...http://www.liliumproject.com/mediabox.htm

Just click on Audio Clips...The one called Lilium Music Box is the original from the show, the Sankyo Audio Sample is the thing that Sankyo has made for the project, the music motor thingy! Pretty neat eh!!! After they get through with the motor I think they want to have a box put into motion.

Anime Survey for Research Paper

Hey all,

I'm currently in the process of writing a research paper for my anthropology class on the popularization of anime/manga in the West. Because there's such an impressive pool of anime/manga fans here on this forum, I was hoping if people here would be willing to help me out by filling out a short 10-item survey here:

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?s...dlbzKnVA_3d_3d (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=3hoI4abORg_2b2SqdlbzKnVA_3d_3d)

It shouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes, and you don't have to be a rabid anime/manga fan to take it. I'd give more details on the survey but I want to keep the results unbiased (although I will share after I have collected enough responses). Suffice to say that the questions have to do with anime/manga, and what you think of anime/manga. All answers will be submitted anonymously, so please try to be as honest as possible.

As noted before, the survey is 10 questions, and is two pages long.

The survey will be open until Thanksgiving (11/26). If you have a bit of time then I'd really appreciate your help in this matter.

Thanks everyone!

PS: Who said anime and school didn't mix? =)

*_Darker than Black Side Stories' Promo Video Streamed_*

Link ---> http://www.d-black.net/gallary/pv02.html
Side stories to reveal Hei's story between 1st & 2nd Darker than BLACK TV series

The official website for the Darker Than Black: Ryūsei no Gemini television anime series has begun streaming a promotional video for the first Darker than BLACK - Kuro no Keiyakusha side story. The side stories recount what happens to the main character Hei in the two years between the original Darker than BLACK - Kuro no Keiyakusha science-fiction adventure series and the ongoing Darker Than Black: Ryūsei no Gemini sequel. The side story videos are being bundled with the even-numbered Blu-ray Disc and DVD volumes of Darker Than Black: Ryūsei no Gemini. (The second BD and DVD volumes ship on January 27 in Japan.)

Original character designer Yuji Iwahara, anime character designer and chief animation director Takahiro Komori, and most of the main staff have returned for the second television series, although Yasushi Ishii (Hellsing) is now listed as the musical composer instead of Yoko Kanno. Funimation is releasing the first anime series in North America.

So so what do you guys think. I think this is awesome news :3
We can finally get to see the main reasons why there is this "significant change" in hei

SPOILER WARNING

I think we may get some hints considering the gaap of S1 and S2, like

what happened to Yin.
why hei switched from eating to alcohol.
and finally as Tank say why he refuse to take an Haircut, xD

(Dont know if we've already had one of these threads, mod can delete if needs be)

As the title states..
_*What pulls you yourself into an anime, and why is that?*_

For me, theres 2 reasons..

Reason 1; Kawaii girls, when their that cute, you know its gotta be good o.o LOL.

Reason 2; First Episode. Its a big one, but if they dont pull off a first episode properly, then I dont watch the rest of the series. Sekirei, had kawaiii girls, really kawaii :D but I watched the first episode, and I just couldnt get hooked, at all..

What does it for everyone else?

If you have watched Elfen Lied then it's a simple question to answer..
Which personality do you like better? Nyuu or Lucy state..

Please explain your answers, Thank You^^

Image: http://i573.photobucket.com/albums/ss174/Kisaki2000/Kisaki%20Random%20Pics/nyuu.png Image: http://i573.photobucket.com/albums/ss174/Kisaki2000/Kisaki%20Random%20Pics/lucy.png

Nyuu seems to be more compatible for Kouta, because she is innocent, harmless, kind-hearted and cute, she also loves Kouta very much. Although, Kaede (Lucy) is her personality when she fell in love with Kouta in the past. She is violent, extremely dark-hearted, but still have her love for Kouta, and she also have the memory of their past days.

So for me it’s Lucy (minus violence .. minus darkheart.. plus smile)
she looks more mature but less cuteness. Still, I like it more.

Visual summary of upcoming winter's anime:

First guesses about who's going to sub what, can be found here: http://www.fansubwiki.com/Who_Subs_What:_WINTER_2009

Doesn't look too interesting, imo, and only few got my attention. I'll be checking out:

Durarara!! - made by the people, who also made Baccano! It should be good [hope so...]

Hidamari Sketch x ☆☆☆ - since I'm addicted to Hidamari... ;]

Ookami Kakushi - unless it turns into some weird/sick loli series -.-

Dance in the Vampire Bund - maaaaaaaaaybe... Rather not.

*Please read! *In efforts to eliminate a posts with one liners, or just a couple of words, please tell us:

*What is your favorite Anime film?
What's it about?
Why do you like it?*

Mine is *Akira*

In 1988, Tokyo is destroyed by an apparent nuclear explosion that leads to the start of World War III. Thirty-one years later, Neo Tokyo, a new megalopolis built on an artificial island in Tokyo Bay, is gripped by political strife, anti-government terrorism, and gang violence.
The film explores a number of psychological and philosophical themes, such as the nature of corruption, the will to power, and the growth from childhood to maturity both in individuals and the human race itself. Elements of Buddhist symbolism are also present in the film. Notable themes in the film include youth culture, cyberpunk, delinquency, psychic awareness, social unrest, the world's reaction toward a nuclear holocaust and Japan's post-war economic revival.
If you wanna know more, wikipedia it. :P

It's my favorite anime film of all time because of the experience I had while watching it. I think I had an aneurysm of sheer epicness. I love the action, the interaction between the characters. I loved Tetsuo, and Kaneda. I was not bored at any moment, and the soundtrack was haunting and appropriate. I can't really tell you why it intrigued me so much, but I remember being in a daze afterwards, pondering many of the themes portrayed in the film. It's just typically my style: violence, corruption, youth passion, and cigarettes. ;P

As the title says:"What are the three mangas that you would like to become an anime?" Please describe that manga so this thread will have some depth

For me it would be:
1.Beelzebub - It is awesome. I just can't see it not becoming an anime in the future.
2.Sket Dance - It is a school life comedy that is great. We need an anime like this right now.
3.Bakuman - Made by the ones that brought us Death Note. You would learn a lot about the industry known as manga from this manga.^^

Beelzebub and Bakuman are too short to have an anime for the moment but hopefully we can expect an anime from these two in the future. If they don't make one i will.^^

I have noticed that some people in the community talk about watching a series 3 or 4 times, this seems weird to me because there are only 3 animes I have ever seen more than once and i have only watched those twice. So here my question, how many times on average do you watch a series? and how many times have you watched your favorite series?

Franime

Have any of you people watched a franime? have any of you people even got an idea of what a franime is? Well let me explain, the only people who equalled the Japanese in their style of Story writing were the French they have some really cool concepts and bizarre imagery the Magic Roundabout is a good example of bizarreness. So it was only natural that at some point these two dynamic forces would join together and create shows many call franimes because they feature French writing and Japanese animation

Some of you may be surprised to know that you already watched these shows as kids in the 80s'/ early 90's and may have thought there were American cartoons. That is understandable because back in the 80's anime often lacked the sharpness that today's animes have and the art styles varied greatly with some being heavily influenced by western art styles this is the case with franime

These are some of the Franimes I watched some are worth watching others are not they all have interesting storyline and may get you interested in having a look.

Taiyō no Ko Esuteban / The Mysterious Cities of Gold

This defiantly one of the ones to watch In 1532 a Spanish orphan named Esteban joins Mendoza, a navigator, and his associates Sancho and Pedro, in their search for one of the seven cities of gold in South America, hoping to find his father. They are joined on their quest by Zia, an Incan girl, and Tao, the last descendant of the sunken empire of Mu

The series is a mix of ancient South American history, achaeology, and Scifi. The travellers encounter the Maya, Inca, and Olmecs during their journey. They discover many lost technological wonders of the Mu Empire, including a solar powered ship (the Solaris) and The Golden Condor, a huge solar-powered mechanical bird, capable of traveling considerable distances under the sun's power alone. They are constantly pursued by antagonists Gomez and Gaspard, who are also in search of the Cities of Gold.

The Seven Cities of Gold were built by the Emperor of Mu over fear of a global war which would destroy all civilization. Such a war did break out, destroying the Empires of Mu and Atlantis when they used the "Weapons of the Sun" (implied to be thermonuclear weapons). The Seven Cities of Gold hold copies of books in their "Universal Libraries" as well as powerful artifacts, including the "Great Legacy", a portable fusion reactor. Other elements of this technology turn up in unexpected places, like the Solaris in Tao's home island, Esteban's and Zia's medallions as keys to the Cities, or Tao's jar as an important piece of the Great Legacy. Reminiscences of this ancient story are present in Inca legends written on golden quipu, which only Zia can read. This triggers an obsessive quest for the Cities of Gold on the part of the Spaniards Mendoza, Gomez, Gaspard and Francisco Pizarro.

Esteban seeks his long-lost father and is tied to Mendoza, who rescued Esteban from a sinking ship when he was a baby. Esteban seems to have a magical ability to make the Sun appear, which proves to be an invaluable asset throughout the series. Zia also seeks her father, from whom she was taken when she was six and brought to Spain as a gift to the princess. She has a medallion just like the one Esteban carries. Tao seeks signs of his ancestors; he possesses an encyclopedia about their lost technology and a mysterious jar which, according to the legend, only the high Priest of the City of Gold can open and proves to be the Great Legacy's cooling or control rod system. Mendoza, Sancho and Pedro are motivated by their search for gold, though Mendoza appears to be genuinely fond of the three children.

The Olmecs are the descendants of survivors of the global war who hid under their mountain. Only their elite were able to survive, suspended in cyrogenic hibernation. The Olmecs do not appear to be human (or if they were once Human, it is implied that they have horribly mutated from the fallout of the Nuclear war that destroyed their ancestors); they are short, thin and have pointed ears and enlarged frontal bones. They are highly intelligent but devious and selfish. Lead by their king, Menator, the Olmecs seek an artifact called the "Great Legacy" in order to power their cryogenic systems, as well as samples of healthy cells from the children to combat their mutations and sterility. Their technology is generally inferior to that of the modern age, and they use weapons such as spears and swords. They do however maintain some elements of their advanced technological heritage such as the stasis and medical technology used to keep the elite of the Olmecs in suspended animation until an opportunity arises when they can be revived, powered by what appears to be a geothermal power system. This power system is destroyed in an escape by the children and Mendoza, starting a frantic search by the Olmecs for the fusion reactor core (the Great Treasure) hidden in the City of Gold. They also have a single flying machine that appears to use very similar technology to that of the Golden Condor, however it is armed with some kind of particle beam or focused heat weapon of great power.
