I think this is comparing Apples to Oranges. They are both in Two different genres, Sc-Fi and Fantasy. They both are great in their own aspects. Great plot, great effects and great characters. So neither are better than the other.

Darth Vader in the original trilogy was a far better character he had all of the complexity that the New triology encarnation but introduces them more effectively by introducing glimpses of the different sides to the character as the movies progress leavuing the character dark mysterious and miss understood.

Although I liked both series, I say starwars because it's more imaginative and there's.. more to it than lord of the rings in my opinion; with SW there are other entire planet,galaxies,etc. LotR is just limited to that one place =\

There both really good....but theres more action in LOD.....so sorry star wars...Lord Of The Rings for me :P
