Default Any book that shaped your life's beliefs?

For my ethics, it's Ayn Rand's "Philosophy, who needs it?" and "Journals of Ayn Rand"

For my epistemology, It's Hume.

The one that comes to mind the strongest is Winter of Fire by Sherryl Jordan. It's a young adult fantasy novel and I read it when I was nine. It follows the story of a young girl born into a slave race who are horribly oppressed, and how even though it costs her a lot, she spends her entire life speaking out against these injustices and trying to change them. I know, it's not a proper philosophical book or anything, but I learnt a lot about justice, courage and the evils of prejudice and oppression of any kind from that book, and I think I carry those lessons with me to this day.

A couple of books have shaped my views.

First the Bible. Whether I want it to or not, whether It does so directly or not, since it influences so many it influences everyone.

Secondly A Will to Power by Frederich Nietzsche is a powerful book I would like to finish it one day.

And a book I would also like to finish Is called The Golden Bough by Sir William Raleigh. I was introduced to this book by Eureka 7 actually. Holland can be seen reading it often in the series so i did some research to see what he was reading and it turned out to be rather interesting.

"How to read a book" 1965 version, by Mortimer Adler. It's more than a book about reading books, you are encouraged to educate yourself by your own will.

lol The Little Prince kinda changed how i look at life. it was so touching, and heartfelt =3 Wicked, also...well it didn't change my life but it certainly changed how i look at the life of evil-doers in classic stories o_o;

Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison, and Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad recently. Both are very good, however Invisible Man probably changed me more than Heart of Darkness.

Those are the most recent. I tend to go through huge personality shifts if I read strong messaged books, and after each shift I forget what came before it. :P. Just don't talk to me after I've read Like Water for Chocolate , Little Women, Pride and Prejudice, or Their Eyes were Watching God. Arghhhh....
