I had to read this for my literature discussion group, but I really enjoyed it.

Anyone else read it? What parts did you like/dislike?

A great novel that entails and depicts the life of the great depression
a classic ;D

I actually kept forgetting that it took place in the great depression XD

Yeah he was ftw! At first I thought he was going to be a distant father because of how Scout called him Atticus instead of Dad, but then my lit discussion group and I concluded that Harper Lee made it like that so Atticus would seem like more of a main character instead of just the father of a main character.

a narrative perspective was it i think, and Atticus was more like the main character though or rather the one who shape the main character ;D
I could somehow feel and picture how hard life was during the depression =/

Yes, there is, it's a classic from 1962 [To Kill A Mockingbird]

I read the book years ago and still remember these bitter-sweet feelings described in it. One of the books I really liked, but still, I guess I won't read again. Too much sadness, too much injustice.

My lit discussion group is watching the movie together tomorrow, I can't wait!

It did have a lot of sadness and injustice...but a lot of funny moments too! Like when they see the guy across the street tinkling onto the sidewalk and Dill and Jem start talking about aim and Scout feels left out XD And I thought the ham thing in the play was funny, too.

but the dominant emotion there was the blatant injustice of society, and complimented by the bitter mood of the depression D:
now I will have to see the movie and whine about how they distorted the book if I find any ;D

Harper Lee actually considered a simple love story, herself. Probably meaning brotherly love between humans, not specifically Scout and Dill's little romance, lol.
