Rep Power: 0 ![]() ![]() | Word Doc Ver: ~Megaupload ~DivShare 1) Media Coder http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1W5SZDJD (Requires fire fox to work properly) All files are free and do not need registration or any other requirements.2) Alltoavi http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DVI6GQO7 3) Soft Depo video converter http://www.megaupload.com/?d=T9AV4QR6 Make sure to install pendo as well by checking the box, or you won’t be able to convert media formats to RM. Due to increase of different formats of video files through out internet, many people are struggling to keep up with the change. Hopefully this tutorial can help you to be familiar with the main video formats. It might be boring so please bear with me, when this is over you can convert your files with ease. I’ll give a basic info on the main files first to help you build your general knowledge AVI: Audio Video Interleave. This is the main video format that you’re most likely to come across, usually in high resolutions of 640 x 480 in the size of 170-220 MB. RMVB: Real Media Variable Bitrate. Real networks video format is used mainly for local use, due to its light size (usually within 50-90 MB). It’s perfect for users with low disk space. MPEG-4: Also knows as MP4.It is used in many portable devices such as i-pods and PSP. With it its high quality and stunning Bitrate, it’s reasonably heavy in size. File size is dependent to the duration of the video file. Ogg: A file with the extension .ogm is an Ogg Media File. Like DVDs, OGM files can have switch able subtitle(s). I recommend VLC media player to play Ogg formats. You can download it for free from here: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/. MKV: Matroska Multimedia Container. Can hold an unrestricted number of video, audio, picture or subtitle tracks inside a single file. Similar to Ogg and AVI formats but much more powerful. Media Player Classic is the recommended media player for MKV files, you can download it here for free: http://www.divxdigest.com/software/m...r_classic.html. Now to the tutorial!! Before we start make sure you have installed all the freeware that I mentioned earlier properly! I’m going to start with AVI to RMVB. AVI to RM (Soft Depo video converter) Open Soft Depo video converter >>> Click on “Convert to Real Media” >>> select your “output path” (on the bottom of the window)>>> Add the AVI file that you want to convert to RM by right-clicking on the blank space. ![]() Let’s say for example you want to convert Naruto 78 into RMVB ![]() When you chose the file, go to >>> settings and make sure that the box “Convert Audio” is checked and set the Output File Resolution “as source”. ![]() Press “OK”, then Set the Output Video to “450 VBR Download” ![]() Then Just click Convert After clicking convert you should get something like this: ![]() When the conversion is complete, open the converted file by using the specific path you chosen yourself or the same folder where you have the original video file. It might have seen hard but this process is really easy once you do it once and it only takes 15 minutes of your time. Now we’re going to use Media Coder. AVI to MP4 (Media coder) Many people convert their AVI videos in order to transfer it to their portable devices such as Sony’s PSP and Apple’s I-pod. Launch Media Coder and add the AVI file which you want to convert to MP4, choose the “video” option and change the container to MP4, set the format to X-vid and leave the rest in default. Press start and the conversion should begin. Example: I’ve chosen one of my Naruto episodes to convert. I also adjusted the bitrate to 911, the higher the figure the higher size will get thus the quality will be better. Set the format to x-vid and the container to MP4, then click convert. ![]() A progress bar like this should appear. ![]() When it’s finished just follow the output folder’s directory to your file. MP4-PSP (Media coder) I know there are a lot of i-pods and PSP users out there who are having troubles because of not knowing the correct resolutions or the video file is not cropped properly. With given features of Media Coder it’s very easy to convert your files. By following these steps you should see why I chose this freeware to this job. Launch Media Coder >> Extension ![]() You must install fire fox like said before. If you didn’t you need to install it now because the window will not load without it. When you install it, browse the application form your hard drive. ![]() I’m going to convert Eureka Seven AVI to a MP4 in order to transfer it to my PSP. Add the AVI file which you want to convert (In this case Eureka Seven) >> Extension >> PSP ![]() A window should pop-up with a picture of a PSP. Change the default settings to the recommended setting which is listed blow. ![]() When you adjusted the settings just click “Start” ![]() When the conversion is finished you can transfer the converted file straight to your PSP by clicking “Ok” when the pop-up appears. ![]() The converted file should be transferred to your PSP. For other extension devices such as I-pod it’s the same progress but different resolutions. MKV/Ogg to AVI (Alltoavi) This is probably the hardest conversion, but thanks to the freeware which I’m going to use is going to make this very simple. Add the MKV or the Ogg file which you want to convert to AVI. Choose the subtitle and audio which you want to merge with AVI. Choose the bitrate and (the higher the bitrate the better the quality is) pick the frame rate*.
Ogg to AVI Open your Ogg file with VLC player to check which audios which and see if it includes any Sub(s) (if included). I listened to both tracks in my file. The first one was English Dub and the second one was Japanese Dub. It didn’t contain any subs. Track one 1 was Eng Dub and Track 2 was Jap Dub (This varies within files to files) Spoiler Knowing this information we can start to convert. Launch Alltoavi and add the Ogg file. A window should pop-up with settings for the AVI. Click “Save to” in order to allocated the file which you want your converted file to go in. Next choose the screen size that you want (I recommend 640x480) and check “Locked Aspect Ratio”. Then choose X-vid codec for the Video encoder. Select the Video bit rate which you want (Remember the higher the bit rate the better the quality). Do the same thing for the Audio Bitrate. Choose the sub (if it contains any) and the audio which you wanted, Track 1 = Audio 0, Track 2 = Audio 2 and so on. Click “Add job” and then click convert. Be sure to use the recommended interpolation, Bi cubic Example: This what I used for my video, since mine didn’t have any subtitles I choose none and since I wanted Japanese Dub over English Dub, I chose Audio 1. If your file such as MKV contains Subtitles and no Audio use Spoiler Click “Add job” and then “convert” You should get something like this: Spoiler Finally, when the conversion is finished just follow the output folder’s directory to find your file. MKV to AVI (Alltoavi) Launch Alltoavi and add the MKV file. A window should pop-up, saying to change restricted special mode. The restricted mode is much easier to use so it’s perfect for MKV files. Click Yes, Two other windows should pop-up choose the Special Conversion Process one and adjust the AVI controls. Next choose the screen size that you want (I recommend 640x480) if the default screen size is not entered. Select the Video bit rate which you want (Remember the higher the bit rate the better the quality). Choose the subs that you want to merge with the AVI (E.g. Eng, Jap). If you want the no change in the audio “External Audio”, If not choose the other language which you want (E.g. Eng, Jap). Finally, pick the frame rate which is recommended to you (No skip option Window). ![]()

Rep Power: 0 ![]() ![]() | Example: This is the settings which I used for converting Claymore.KMV Spoiler I wanted the Jap dub so I used External Audi (Default) and wanted Eng Subs and chose Subs 1 as shown. The FPS that was suggested to me was 23.98 so I ticked the first box. If your subs and the movie are not in sync convert the original file again using a different Frame rate. After clicking OK, add the job and click convert. You should get a progress bar. this will take longer than other conversion since this file contains h.246. When it’s finished Follow the out put folder’s directory to find your file. Well that's it for the Tutorial hope you enjoy it, if you have any questions, please feel free to PM me ^_^

Media Coder did not work for me, it kept stopping after a few seconds of conversion... I use mkvmergeGUI to remove the English soundtracks (if those are available), and then use StaxRip to hardsub avi's. It prefers mp3 soundtracks for muxing, but those are easy to produce with all those converters out there. For movie conversion, not much beats AVS Video Converter, just torrent off a cracked version.
