BitDefender v 10 (free edition) problems

Okay, so I upgraded to windows SP 2 lately, installed BitDefender v10 free edition and updated it.

first problem is, this bdss.exe which is supposed to be the active shield thingy fails all the time and make it impossible to scan the comp because it said it cant connect to the scanner.

the second problem is, when I ran a scan it found that I'm infected with many trojans and viruses but it cant remove it so it quarantined it, is it because it's a free edition so it cant fix it?

I've personally never used this program, but you could always try an alternative program. I personally use AVG Free Edition on my computer (anti-virus). AVG should suffice if mixed with a few anti-spyware programs such as SuperAntiSpyware. Both these programs are free.

By far the best antivirus software is Avira GmbH's AntiVir. It eliminates precisely the kind of errors that you're getting; when it detects, it gives you 6 action options to choose from, and allows you to save the response for future flags from that file (so you don't accidentally delete important files/modules).

well alex i share the same probs as i once used bitdefender and it only invades my pc lotsa viruses that results to reformating it......i now relying on my avira version 9 which is for me reliable....2nd one is kaspersky 8.0...i dont like the 9.0 of it..it sucks.........

My advice is to format the HDD if possible.
once a PC is infected n cleaned there is always the risk of loosing critical system files.

Well according to user ratings Bit D should be fine, but IMO
Kaspersky 8
or ESET NOD32 smart security is the best choice.

yeah kasper V 8 is the best choice but the probs with kasper is that once a folder has a virus it automatically delete all the folder T_T....but avira is somewhat related to kasper...i dunno but for me avira works best for me since when a folder is infected it wont delete the whole folder thing but only the file that is infected..^_^

well you can change that in the settings, but yes Avira is good too :)
