Whatsup! I've currently run into a problem, seeking you peoples help! Hope you guys can help me. Well anyways, this afternoon, I believe, I received an ASUS EEE PC Series 2. I've yet to learn about the specs. I believe it holds half a GB of ram, a 2 GB SSD HD, 3 USB 2.0 ports, one VGA port, an Ethernet port, and the standard 7" screen on all EEE PCs. Well anyways, as my title says, I'm trying to install Windows XP on it. Don't ask me why. I just want XP on it. I know it has Linux and all that fun stuff, my I want to be able to play simple games on it too, like CS 1.6, CZ, StarCraft, and all those stuff. Anyways, No CD Drives, nothing. Theres one thing. I think it can boot from USB Sticks, External HDs, external drives, and SD Cards. (I don't have External drives or HDs; All I have is a 2GB USB Stick, and a 2 GB SD Card, which I believe I can use to my advantage). Anyways, I'm gonna use nLite to downsize my version of XP, reburn. Thing is, for the installation to take place, I need the computer to be out of the OS. Therefore, I may NOT mount any images to a virtual drive for an install. I also do NOT want (prefer) to have XP on a USB stick. I want it primarily on my SSD drive (if possible). Is there anyway for this to happen. Is it possible to mount the XP image onto a USB stick/SD Card, and then have my BIOS boot from the USB stick, and boot it off just as if it was the real CD? Thanks In advance! Gonna be downsizing XP. Waiting for your answers!!! Thank you~ again ~ Genesisx

I'll look into that possibility. In the meantime: Why don't use tinyXP? It's a version of win xp where lots of stuff has been stripped off. It's pretty popular. edit: http://www.eeeguides.com/2007/11/ins...usb-thumb.html :D |

Thank You Galgalid!! A really exceptional answer! I'm gonna try this tonight! Btw, is there any way of restoring this if anything goes wrong (back to my default OS?)

You can install pretty much any Linux distro on it. I googled it quickly and it seems that alot of people run Xandros Linux or Ubuntu Linux on it. I want an eee PC T_T ...or the MSI Wind :D Last edited by Anon-sama; 09-05-2008 at 12:08 AM. |
