worst viruses you've seen......

was called to the rescue because my cousins desktop started flashing then started to send adult advertisements to all her contacts.lol....so was just wondering what other kinda viruses you guys have encountered and what it did to the victim PC.......

hope this thread doesnt already exist if it does then im sure we can get a mod to drop the axe

It's been a long time since i seen viruses that harms a PC. Usually its spyware these days. The last good known virus i encountered was SASR. Back in the early day before SP1 in XP.

Never really had a bad virus.. the ones you get from msn seem pretty annoying though. Especially the types that are like "hey is this you in this pic *insert link*". My poor little sister always falls for them >.<

then it seems like ive seen all the good-ones....the trojan horse,trojan hider,trojan online games and many more variations.......but the baddest ive ever seen is blacktop,a flashy containing it was plugged into a friend's computer and immediately,i mean IMMEDIATELY......the screen went black.there was no retrival we had to purge the hard drive....(almost brought me to tears)

There was this old virus i remember. It wasn't harmful at all but was very annoying. Anytime you moved the mouse near a window it would move away from it. It was pretty cheap and kind of funny but very annoying.

... that's a design feature of the windows based operating system... it prevents hardware and software from damaging itself... which would otherwise result in replacement of hardware and loss of data...

I have had many a similar conversation. No system is 100% safe. Even Red Hat had a huge OpenSSH problem with their servers. As far a viruses go, I've seen some pretty nasty stuff. The viruses I used for the tests in my security review a friend of mine actually had. He kept them locked away on a "safe" sector of his hard drive, burned that sector to a disk, and gave it to me to run tests on. It was interesting to purposely infect a computer. ;-)

...well then....other than that i use to get these crappy popups but not anymore. my computer is clean as a virgin :D...funny conversation but it makes sense
