Well since you said recommendations are welcome!

3x3 Eyes is good
Akira is a classic but the manga is very big
Blame! is very good
Death Note story is excellent highly recommended
Gantz is very good
Hoshi no koe is a short manga about 10 chapters but story is beautiful
Blood the last vampire the anime is a classic manga is also good
Any of Mitsuru Adachi's works is always good

A friend of mine gave me a copy of manga in pdf format ... so I read it like an ebook :p ... you can also use any photo viewer to read it on screen ... even the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer will do ... can even zoom in to make the picture or words larger


... I tried to place the pdf manga in my pocket pc to read but sometimes the words are too small and need to scroll around to see the whole page ... just rather read it on screen ... :)
