Odex Pte, the Singapore-based anime licensor and distributor, has won court orders against two internet service providers requiring them to release names of customers who illegally download episodes of anime series that Odex has licensed. StarHub and SingNet were both ordered to identify about 1,000 subscribers each. Odex is also planning to pursue similar action against a third service provider, Pacific Internet. StarHub initially turned down Odex's request for the names, but decided to comply once ordered to do so. According to Odex director Steven Sing, they will contact the individuals the ISP's name and fine them sums of up to 5,000 Singapore dollars (US$3,285). Source: Associated Press More... |
