Death note american remake! Why??????

Vertigo Entertainment has announced that they will be making a remake of the Death Note movie, staring American actors. That in itself is bad enough, but NO! IT GETS WORSE! THIS IS A FACT! THEY ARE CONSIDERING ZAC EFRON AS KIRA! Mr. Believe-in-Yourself Confidence man, as a killer, and Kira no less! How do they expect this to be pulled off well? it might be that I'm wrong, and the movie might be great, but I can't see Zac Efron as a killer. Why do they even need to do this anyway? We already have the first 2 movies dubbed. And who knows what an American company would do to Death Note? THEY MESSED UP HARRY POTTER, THE BEST SELLING BOOK SERIES ON EARTH, SO WHAT WOULD THEY DO TO A SHOW THEY PROBABLY THINK IS NERDY OR CHILDISH!?!!?!?!??!
