I just thought I would create a home for those people like me who love metal, any metal. Talk about favorite artists, albums, styles, whatever really. Anyway, my some of my favorite metal artists, in no particular order: At the Gates Meshuggah Opeth Emperor Dimmu Borgir Immortal Dream Theater Iced Earth Blind Guardian Dark Tranquility Death Symphony X Darkthrone Dissection Mastodon Slayer Enslaved Iron Maiden Also, me and my friends just started a hard rock/ metal band and we've written our own song...its one and a half minutes long, but still. Oh yes, and as a final note, if any of you mention the bands Korn, Slipknot and Dragonforce in a context other than saying how bad they are, then prepare to be laughed at. You have been warned. Please consider the above statement a joke! I am not going to judge! EDIT: After testing this, I realized my hatred of Nu metal is such that I may well lose control and judge you for it. But don't let that stop you. You can like the genre if you want, go ahead and post. But please look up some other, not Nu metal bands sometime in the near future so your transgression may be absolved. AGAIN EDIT: I gave Dragonforce another listen, recently. They don't suck quite as badly as I remember, or maybe they learned how to play their instruments. Either way, you can go ahead and appreciate them. I won't mind. Excellent idea KingOfRoll  , in fact I was thinking about it one of these days (the lack of a Metal club on the forums).I'm glad that was taken care of ^^ My favorite Metal is from the late 70's and the good'ol 80's (lots of bands), main genres are Power Metal, Speed Metal, Thrash Metal, etc. Quote:

I would list mine but i seriously have 100s of artist i could choose from and have no idea where to begin. I'll have to go threw my list and see if i can make a top 10 if thats possible for me. Anyways Slayer will deffinitly be up there. I'll post it later when i get some sleep.

Thanks, Agent Smith. I'm happy for people to post their favorites, but this was intended to be for more than just that. Talk a little about your favorites, make recommendations and so on. I would recommend Opeth and Meshuggah especially, both play interesting genres. I'm still expanding my metal repertoire here, so expect more in the future!

Not sure if those are all death metal - I haven't heard all those but Dimmu Borgir and Immortal are black metal, I think. I really like Death, though. You know a band is good when it has its musical style in its name
