Oh yes, and as a final note, if any of you mention the bands Korn, Slipknot and Dragonforce in a context other than saying how bad they are, then prepare to be laughed at. You have been warned.

so because somebody likes dragonforce your going to laugh? funny i can look at some of the bands you like and laugh too. others i can say hey i like those guys as well. i have been listening to heavy metal for over 35 years, yes i am in my 40's been to more concerts than some of you have been alive and have met some of the greats as well and hopefull can still meet a few before my time ends as well. also if it wasn't for fighting with arthritis i would still be playing guitar.

KISS is my all time fave hard rock band, no i can't call them metal though hard rock was before heavy metal really existed. but when it comes to metal i currently prefer the european power/prog metal bands Hammerfall, Sonata Arctica, Rhapsody of Fire, Nightwish, Blind Guardian, Demons and Wizards, Primal Fear, Stratovarius, Dream Evil and Dragonforce. Of the american bands Iced Earth, Kamelot, Dream Theater, Nevermore, and Symphony X have given US metal something to be proud of. Bands like Helloween, Slayer, old school metallica (pre black album), Judas Priest, Scorpions, Iron Maiden, Queensryche w/DeGarmo, Black Sabbath, Dio, Savatage and a lot of the 80's hair bands still keep me rocking. The only 2 japanese metal bands that i know and like are Loudness and Anthem, though some of the newer ones i would like to hear more of. I have met Chuck Billy of Testament on a few occassions while living in the Bay Area of SF. Also was able to meet others who came to play in that area thanks to my contacts and local friends Vicious Rumors. I have met Jason Newsted on 2 occassions.

as for the styles i prefer bands with singers not the cookie monster imitators. i think its great that bands Testament and Death Angel are making comebacks. for right now i will end it here.

OK, dude...no call to be so offended. I think the three bands I mentioned are kind of cheesy and as such was mostly making a joke. But please, by all means get up on your metal high horse and cast down your judgments on we poor mortal fools who haven't been listening to metal as long as you have.

Which bands that I mentioned did you find funny? Is it the bands with 'Cookie monster imitators'?

no i just don't think its right to say if you like so and so you will be laughed at and to say you have been warned. who sounds more like they are on a high horse just because you found something cheesy with them? heck im not a big fan slipknot but i do like the lead singers offshoot band stone sour and korn isn't really to my liking though some of their stuff is ok. so yeah i got on a bigger soap box because i did take offense. mind you i wouldn't have said shit if you didn't say anything at all about them. we all have our own opinions.

yes i don't like cookie monster vocalist, however Dimmu Borgir i do like. and we will leave it at that. cool?

Yeah. Metal is awesome. My favorite genres are symphonic death/black metal, progressive (death) metal and also normal melodic death metal.

Septic Flesh
Edge of Sanity
Vesania
Wintersun
Omnium Gatherum

I also write some own stuff. It's some kind of melodic progressive metal with no vocals. :D

Alright, fair enough. As I said, I was mostly making a joke and was not trying to judge people. You have to admit that Dragonforce are kind of over the top, though. I guess that's the point of the genre. By the way, would you capitalize your posts or something because when you write a lot it tends to get hard to read?

Aevis, you should check out Swallow the Sun, they're a melodic doom metal band. My Dying Bride I've heard of mentioned in the same breath but never actually heard, in case you wanted to give them a try.

Barin, yeah you can join. I hadn't really designed this to be a full on fanclub, but maybe it should be. Is anyone out there willing to make a signature for us?

When I first heard Dragonforce a couple of years back I was blown away. Now I don't know how the new cd sounds, I have only heard the first single released by them on Liquid Metal on Sirius/XM.

eh well im into black metal of all sorts but i do like to lay back and chill to some good ol death metal. also the new dragon force cd is pretty good to my ears if i can say the least
