Bite me ![]() I will agree with you about alot of Dragonforce's stuff does have a similar sound. But look at AC/DC as well. 3 chord Angus hasn't changed or has learned a 4th chord and people are still into them and consider them to be one of the best even though they have never been really that popular with me. As for youtube who are you talking about? | |

Dragonforce. Not to put too fine a point on it, but their live stuff is just...painful. As for AC/DC you're just saying that that even though their stuff isn't complex, it's popular. Fair enough, but I don't listen to music because it's popular. Dragonforce had a huge bout of popularity after they featured in guitar hero, but in my opinion that doesn't make them a great band. AC/DC are good, but I don't really listen to them a lot, for whatever reason. EDIT: It appears that we've been moved, and as such we are now an actual fanclub. We now need an official signature.

I liked them before Guitar Hero. Youtube i don't think could truly appreciate a band on poor recordings like that. Oh well its cool we can agree to disagree and I am ok with that. As for AC/DC i was never impressed with them.. they had some songs that are ok but nothing special. Iced Earth.. have you heard the new cd yet? I have only heard the one song that they released and I am glad Matt's back even though Ripper I liked as well. and i am not a graphic artist so i can't design the sig Last edited by chrisd69; 02-15-2009 at 06:39 AM. |

This seems like the place for me. I'm a big metal fan and have been for a good couple years now. Pretty sure I've been through ever genre you can think of: Death, Black, Industrial, Doom, Gore, Melodic, Power, Speed, Thrash and the many, many more that I can't think os, but at the moment I'm into the folk metal scene. I'll post a few bands to advertise and hopefully you all will give them a try: Eluveitie Alestorm Ensiferum Korpiklaani Waylander Windir Tanuasheim Riger Hrossharsgrani Melechesh That's just a handful of my favorites. I think the greatest thing about folk metal is the fact that it incorporates the traditional instruments from the many countries the bands are from. What other metal bands frequently use instruments like the Hurdy-gurdy, tin whistle, oud, flute, viola...etc. Then there's the stories they tell. Usually characterised by the many tradition folk tales from their country of origin. Usually sung in their motherlands tongue, but it can be so beautiful. Like Lumsk from Norway. Their lead female vocalist, Stine Mari, has such an operatic voice... it's mesmerising. Ah well, that's all of my rambling for now. If you can't tell, I'd be honored to join the fanclub |

I'd be delighted to have someone who could name so many bands that I had not only not heard of, but was also unable to pronounce! I haven't heard much folk metal, but I'll definitely give it a try. Now that I think of it, I believe that the only folk metal that I've heard are Elvenking. chrisd69 - No, I haven't got a chance to listen to the newest Iced Earth album yet. I liked Ripper as well but Matt Barlow is good too. I guess if you didn't start by hearing Barlow, then you didn't get angry when he left. Did you know Ripper is with Malmsteen's Rising Force now? A cry for help for any graphic designers out there: Help us metal fans find a signature!

King, I have been listening to Iced Earth for a long time back when they first started. And when I heard that Matt left after 9/11 and for his reasons why I was ok with the departure (ok he left before the album with Ripper was finished and then Ripper hopped on and they re did all the songs.) Yes I heard that Ripper joined Yngwie on the metal show on VH1 classic. So I am looking forward to this because I don't think Yngwie had anybody decent after Soto left the band. I liked Turner but all what I heard was Rainbow when Turner was the vocalist. |

Everyone, let's have some more discussion! Talk a little more, so far Chrisd69 is the only other repeat poster. So, I'll start a topic: Anyone out there play an instrument or is in a band? I've played guitar for almost two and a half years and just formed a band with my friends. I actually have two guitars - a Fender strat and floating - bridge Ibanez, but I usually play the Ibanez because the neck is really comfortable.
