Like the title says, any fans of British comics out there?

Some of my favourite comics ever are Judge Dredd, Rogue Trooper and Strontium Dog.

Oh lol I was thinking of British comedians yes I have read a few British comics when I was younger but i don't remember a lot about them It was mainly Judge Dredd in my case. Incidently I still read books by one of the Judge Dredd story righters Sandy Mitchell aka Alex Stuart

Caution, wall of text coming up; only read if you're interested in reading these comics :P

Strontium Dog is set in the year 2180. The world has undergone a huge nuclear war leading to the birth of a sizable population of mutants who were exposed to Strontium-90 in the nuclear fallout. The mutants are greatly loathed by the 'norms' and only a vicious guerrilla war prevented total extermination of all mutants and ensured some basic freedoms.

In the present day for the comic, one of the only jobs open for the mutants is that of a Bounty Hunter; being as it's considered too dirty a job for 'norms'.

The story follows that of a mutant bounty hunter by the name of Alpha on his various missions. That was only a very brief summary, read the full summary here if you're interested ^^.

Rogue Trooper is set on the planet Nu-Earth, the planet has been split into two factions; the Norts and the Southers. Both factions are at large scale war with each other and have used all forms of biological weaponry possible. Due to the weaponry used, the planet's atmosphere has become poisonous and the soldiers must now fight in Biohazard suits, whilst the rest of the population lives in large domes with an artificial environment.

Through genetic engineering, the Southers have developed a breed of super soldiers known as the Genetic Infantrymen (GI) who are immune to the poisonous atmosphere and are able to fight without suits, thus making them more combat effective.

But, on their first major deployment into battle the Norts knew they were coming due to a traitor from the Southers. As such, the GI's were brutally slaughtered in what became known as 'The Quartz Zone Massacre'. Rogue is the sole survivor of this massacre. The GI's have ID chips implanted in their brains, so when they die the chip can be taken out which contains all their memories etc and put into a new body; so there's no need to re-train new soldiers etc. The chips can be preserved in various GI kit pieces, e.g the rifle, helmet and backpack. Rogue, saves his three buddy's chips whose names are Gunnar, Bagman and Helm, and puts each one into his equipment. (I'm sure you can guess which soldier goes into which piece of equipment :P)

Rogue now goes AWOL in his search for the traitor who sold out him and his buddies. This is the main premise of the story, again for more in depth information go here.

Judge Dredd is set 122 years in the future. The earth has been ravaged my many international conflicts, much of the planet has turned to desert, so most of the population congregates in huge cities known as Mega Cities.

The story is set in Mega City One, the Judges are the sole law enforcement of the city. Judges are the Judge (duhh :P) Jury, and if need be, executioner and can do so on the spot when perusing criminals if they see fit. Although, they rarely execute unless the criminals pose a large threat etc. The story follows Dredd in Mega City one, although it is impossible to go into detail on his adventures, purely because there are so many! This comic series has been running for decades and the amount of stories is just too many to name.

You can take my word for it though, it is awesome! One of the main story arcs sees Mega City One come under nuclear attack and invasion by the Soviets. The Soviet City is protected by some sort of dimensional barrier which acts as an ultimate shield. But I don't wanna give away too much :P Read here for much more information.

I don't really think any comics I've read are short, maybe the specials. I guess if you just read one chapter from a comic such as 2000AD, but most stories are being reprinted as graphics novels so you can buy them in huge novels that aren't short ^^
