With the rise in terrorist activities and the creation of more threats due to Western meddling in middle eastern affairs, is it in our interests for the Government to have unlimited access to all our private information?

your thought on this subject

No. I don't know a lot about this, but people should always have a right to privacy. President Bush has violated that with phone-tapping that is supposed to save us from terrorists. The government has no right to listen in on our private conversations without at least telling us first.

I'm against it but I can see the views expressed in the book 1984 coming true in the present age.

No. We have a right to our privacy, and if they want to violate that right, they should have a valid reason and back it up with evidence. Plus I really don't see the point of breeding distrust and resentment towards the government in the public by putting these measures in place, when you'd want the community to be more united and receptive to the government so any threat can be faced together. Maybe I'm just naive, but that's what I think.

as much as we have a right to our privacy under our democratic way, before the next 10 years we will resemble more of a socialist government than a democracy... not looking forward to the furture

we aren't a true democracy anyway so why should it matter. We are actually a democratic-republic society because to be a true democracy we would all have to vote on anything and everything. Instead we elect leaders who vote for us.

sorry that was a bit off topic but anyway everyone wants a little privacy unless you really dont but in desperate time you need to know what everyone does to make sure no one is in danger

Having a socialist government would just make the US a lot more like many European countries. I know they still have rights to privacy, along with better health care and government programs.

I believe we all should still have privacy rights. I can understand why the government would want less privacy freedoms, but that would just be a little to suffocating in my opinion. If all aspects of our lives were monitored everyone would be on edge all the time.
