This world is overpopulated anyway. If you kill off 100,000 criminals that are on death row, people would tend to think twice before comitting a crime with a death penalty. It is not used enuff to make its intended point.

I support the Death penalty 100%, im very happy to live in texas because other states are trying hard to abolish it while as my state is putting in an express lane - as said by Ron White

I think any person that rapes a child aught to be put to death, hell id kill them myself if i could get my hands on them, and dont even get me started on muderers.

Yet another opinion. Ha ha. I feel like the death penalty is actually a good thing, but as I said, just an opinion. It does work, because people are restraining themselves from taking up a machine gun and wiping out 10% percent of human population. I'm pretty sure that criminals do the things they do because they receive pleasure from it. Or maybe they feel they are sly enough to slip through the police's grasp. Or maybe because they've given up on life altogether. Killing is a profession, if you can extend your imagination to accept that as a fact. I would suggest reading The Surgeon by Tess Gerritsen to those of you who also agree with me. It delves into the 'killing gives pleasure' zone. Yeah, murderers are at fault, because we evolved in the way where justice is considered the superior. You know, Justice League, Batman, Superman, that sorta stuff. But you know, it's not quite so defined, when humans are controversial and I doubt I can really persuade anyone over the internet, but I'm just ...neutral... > _ > Fencesitter?

Honestly, I don't believe in the death penalty at all. First off, the law enforcement has the right to settle disputes and settle murders, but they shouldn't have the right to take someone's life away. They aren't gods, and nor are they really doing anything for the murderer or criminal as well. What I believe is even better than the death penalty is giving them a life in prison that's highly isolated. That way, they can think of what they did and that they might reach the ultimatum of what they did was wrong by themselves, not by other people. It's also a better way because if what they did was so bad, they'd be in prison for their whole life.

That's torture for those that feel so highly about wanting the criminals to suffer; rather than letting them die within a year of their crime by the death penalty.

I LOL'd. Well, the user you quoted never said that what they posted was a fact, and what you just said is an opinion. Just because you think that they shouldn't live on this Earth doesn't mean that it can just be a fact as others might think otherwise.

Well i sort of have a both sided view on this, yes i agree with the death penalty but only in the extremist of situations, eg mass murderer now this is where i veer off the death penalty, i believe there should be mutilation penalties, yes sounds sick i know an example would be a pedophile, for them i would find castration (with possible branding) a good sentence. Many crimes that are classed as serious should have a branding penalty and if lifers (or not) be made to work in government work programs, similar to chain gangs i guess. Taking up the jobs that law abiding citizens do not wish to do, sewer cleaners ect. If a company could make them (which they possible can) i would love to see criminals doing these jobs wearing explosive collars ( i know im a dreamer) like in the movie Wedlock.

For people wanting to opt out of these options, there should be an option for them to take their own life, rather than bear the shame.

This is a very controversial subject. i have a mixed opinion on this. I believe it may be better for society to have thoes criminals permanently removed (and not consuming tax $ in prison) but then there is the problem of the imperfections in the justice system. also, a few people can 'turn over a new leaf" given a chance. but send them to god and let him deal with it. i would be happy to pull the trigger on some of society's deviates but who am i to judge? "let he who is with out sin cast the first stone". i have more to say but i should read the whole thread before i say more.

I think it should be more like a "second chance thing". Some people can actually change for the good so i'll do it like this:

Strike 1: Jail
Strike 2: Hell.

:) I think that sounds fair, if they can't appreciatte their lives enough to not screw-up a 2nd time i think they won't reform at all, ever.

I would only put that penalty on murders, rapes and stuff, not thievery, that's much different.

With out the death penalty there would be a lot more crimes going on. The death penalty is more there to keep people in line. Knowing that doing something very worng could end up with there life stops most people from doing anything.
