Should Eminem be a rapper?

Well to start out, my thiesis would be, no eminem should not be a rapper, now before anyone starts to critisize me, in my defense i'll say that eminem should not be a rapper because he is white.

Now before anyone trys to call me racist or any crap like that, in my opinion only black people should be able to rap, because they are the best at it. It just looks inane to see a white boy, going up and trying to rap.

Rapping is not for white people, only black people, oh and btw if any of you think that im racist, im not, so dont let that thought get stuck in your head, its just an opinion, so now what do you think?

Are you serious? I hate all rap but I can actually stand Eminem. He seriously is way better at rapping then most black people. This is just proof that black people aren't the best at rapping.

I can agree that the African Americans have dominated the rap industry, that is why Eminem deserves to be a rapper. He is so famous and world renound, probably more idolised than anyone else in the industry, and you say he doesnt deserve it?
Im not going to pin point every aspect of his life, but from what he tells in his stories, his life was in the shitter most of the time, and for him to come out so successful and normal is phenomenal.

This thread will be on examination because of its nature. The only reason why it stands is because there are some rather good points to be made here. He was the first White male to pierce a 'Black' scene. If anything, he should be congratulated because he broke the norm.

Hes a good rapper. The only rapper i am willing to listen. In my case thats rare cause im a metal head. But i have only listened to hes old songs like "Stan", "The way i am" and so on. Havent listen to hes new work. I heard he hit the bucket some time ago and was on drugs or something. Anyway i think hes allright as bein a white rapper.

I pose to the OP a question should Elvis or any other 'white artist' be barred from doing Gospel/Rhythm and Blues/ Soul or any other so called 'black music' {I include Rock And Roll here as well}?

Or Benny Goodman be precluded from playing Jazz as it is a so called 'black music' form?

My answer to all those questions is a firm NO! As it is by cross colour and cross cultural 'pollination' that a music form both flourishes and thrives. In fact it is by this that some forms have survived in the first place as they are no longer the 'niche novelty' from a small 'ghetto' in a small region.

The best rapper I have ever heard is Aesop Rock, who is not only white, but Jewish. This sort of impotent bigotry embarasses me deeply because frankly, I'm ashamed that I share a message board with people this unaware of themselves. "SHOULD EMINEM BE A RAPPER?!?" Well, something tells me it's a little late in the game for him to consider a career in politics, so if you don't like the music he's making (which, for the record, neither do I) don't listen to it. Stop projecting your racial insecurities over the Internet and try something I've found works quite well- think before you just type all sorts of stupid bullshit all over a forum where people are trying to discuss music, not talk shit about it with the eloquence of an eight year old.
