Plot Summary: In the year 2019, thirty-one years have passed since the outbreak of World War III. Yah...it is. Although I gotta say, the movie really sucks ass compared to the manga. >_>. For some strange reason the manga has more of that "cinematic feel" if you know what I mean...like...there's a lot more suspense and the twists of the plot are have much more impact, etc...

well i certainly enjoyed the movie, but it did seem rushed, I could see where scenes would be, like you said, more impactful and cinematic had they been given more time to develop, but i guess that's to be expected when you cram a, according to wiki: 2,182 page manga epic, into a 2 hour long movie. i'd say a little reading is in order, if not to enjoy the unedited depths of Akira, then at least to find out what happened to poor Kaori!

The whole Kaori thing got skipped in the movie. She actually wasn't there in the plot until halfway-3/4 through when New Tokyo was already established and Tetsuo and Akira were in power. And we still got to see more of her. -_-
