The Diclonius (two-horned human) are mutants created by humans. It has a special ability that can be described as a sixth sense. These mutants have enough power to exterminate the whole human race. Afraid of their powers, people isolate them in research labs to be studied.

One Diclonius girl, Lucy, breaks out of confinement, kills her guards and escapes. She fell into the ocean after being shot and ends up on a beach. There, she meets Kota and Yuka. They name her Nyu and begin to live with her.

Their powers are not really a sixth sense, but an invisible hands called 'vectors' that could kill people.

His name is Kouta and her name is Nyuu (because that was the only thing Lucy could say after brain damage caused a split personality)

For the first time viewers, special OVA goes between 10 and 11.

I have only recently become aware of Elfen Lied's existance, but I am already fascinated by it. I have started reading the manga, at http:/www.mangarun.com It is awesome! Sad, but totally worth reading! I feel sorry for the Diclonus race. To be viewed as mutants, and researched inhumanely as they are, is not right. They have rights, too, you know? At least Lucy won't hurt Kouta, but only because of what happened in the past, and the fact that she loves him. It made me cry.
