I'll repeat once again: This thread and the other ARE TWO DIFFERENT THREADS! Merging them would cause a big confusion too...

very true, if they were merged at the time that this thread was made, then it would probably have worked, but now that we have a discussion going on here, then it would be a rather big confusion... at least thats how I see it

as for where Ichigo's father fit into soul society... if he was the captain before Byakuya, then he was probably the VC at the time of the gaiden that just finished, but we never saw him in it, so we can't know for sure or not...

well 3 things:

1. im not gonna merge it with the first thread because of 2 reasons:
a.there r different discussions, while this one goes on and the other is dead
b.if we "post" at the previous thread it will be grave digging, and merging them will be like puting a living human into a grave... so no they r with the same name but with 2 different discussions, and NO, thank u , there is not to be ONLY one thread for bleach, i just made 2 for different discussions of the manga and the anime, to stop or make less spoilers, do u really think that after that anybody would like to merge all posts???

2.aca its ok, there is an active mod for this forum ill do the job, dont worry.

3.now on topic- in the manga, was a gaiden arc- shown as the past of gotei 13 and its captains, the captain of the 6st division at that time was byakuya's grandfather, while lbyakuya was still training... not even taking a seat at any of gotei-13. as for the anime, it looks like ukitake was around the same rank with Isshin(u could see that by listening to how they talk to each other) means that isshin was probably a captain before urahahra left. the thing is that im 1000% sure that he wasnt the captain of the 6th division. if he WAS a captain, the only options r the 10th divison and the 11th as the captains of both of them wasnt reveled.

true, he could certainly have been one of the unrevealed captains during the gaiden, but he could also have been one of the VCs too, the problem is that we simply dont know where he fits in, too many possible places to narrow it down too much

mercer- now i remmber something, in the anime, when he stepped against grand fissher arrancar, grand fisher told him, that he doesnt really expect to kill him with such a small sword, which then isshin just said, to him: "dont u know, that shinigamis of a captain rank, can control the size of their sword?" which then he just killed him with even not releasing his shikai, does THAT sounds to u like a vice captain? also he told he can control his sword like other captains.... means he is... or something of this kind.

The only problem I see with this, is when Isshin was fighting Grand Fisher and at the same time Shinji was talking with Ichigo. Shinji didn't know whose reiatsu that was.

Now that we know that Shinji was a Captain over 100 years ago, Isshin would have had to been a Captain before then or so insignificant that Shinji did not know him. Of course there is also the possiblity that he was in the Zero Sqaud and therefore Shinji wouldn't have known him. I think if he would have been a Captain, Vice-Captain, or even a seated officer Shinij would of had some idea of who he was. Then the other confusing thing is how does Urahara who was a Captain at the same time Shinji was know Isshin. I am sure all the things will be linked together soon enough we will just have to wait and see.

i think isshin´s time is in between the time the nowaday´s vizard were shinigami and the present. i think i read somewhere that isshin abandoned soul society some 20 years ago when he met masaki, his wife-to-be. that´s why he knows about the vizard while they don´t know him.

Yeah that is fact, the thing is what position did he hold. Or I guess I mean what position did he hold during the Gaiden. He obviously wasn't a Captain, Vice-Captain, or Seated Officer imo. That still doesn't explain how he knows Urahara, unless he didn't meet him until he left SS.
