it´s not certain that he even was a shinigami during "turn back the pendulum". his position will be a mystery until kubo reveals it, and he could easily have met urahara while on shinigami duty (like rukia) or after he decided to leave soul society.

Yeah that is true. As you said we can speculate all we want but until Kubo reveals it we won't know.

Seems like it would be a good filler episode to explain about his past. His dad always has confused me.

Well if it was in the manga it wouldn't be a filler it would be a Gaiden if they went back and explained his past.

Well, as I read your replies you're saying that Ichigo's DAD is neither Captain nor Vice-Captain

for me, I think he was a Vice-Captain or a Captain, becasue as we saw in that episode when he appeared toward that hollow, he looked confident and strong

also, Urahara Amazed when he did saw him, asking him if he still have that power of being Shinigami in the Soul Society

So, I guess he was LIKE (Urahara) same situation but may be stronger than Urahara, might be Vice-Captain!!

we never said that he was not a captain or vice captain, we just speculate that he could very well have been something else, since there are still several different groups within soul society beyond the jurisdiction of the gotei 13, like the imperial guards. everyone assumes that he might have been a captain if you think about his shinigami appearance, but it is a mystery until it is unraveled.

well heres what i think....or hope will happen

ichigo will get a good kickin and his hollow form will take over and his da will have to step in and bring him back to normal u just cant beat a good father son fight

also dont know where this is comming from but..... what if ichigos da was shinigami king then he fell in love with a human give up his power..... could explain why icigo is so strong for a half breed why aizen chose now and why the king doesnt do anything
