The most obvious reason would be CC calling to Lelouch in the closing scene of the episode. As we can assume CC to be still sane, she must be talking to someone, and that someone would most probably be the driver of the cart: Lelouch would have to be alive.

Second, however, and this is where the others have thought things through, Lelouch is alive because he got his dad’s code. He beckoned the World of C to lend him its powers, and he took Charles’s code before Charles passed on. The reason why Lelouch still has his Geass is because he didn’t take the Code from the same person who gave him his Geass: he took his Geass from CC, and he took his Code from Charles. Thus, he now possesses both immortality and a Geass. This is also a reason that the title is Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion.

To further corroborate this, however, remember that when Nunnally held Lelouch’s hand he transferred his memories to her. CC also did it when Lelouch touched her accidentally back then, so it could be assumed that people with Codes are indeliberate telepaths. This leaves us with both immortals traversing the world for the rest of eternity.

Additional evidence:

1. Charles grabbed Lelouch with his right hand, which had the Geass sigil.
2. Lelouch needed the fully evolved Geass to transfer a code.
3. The code doesn’t appear to activate until someone dies. Hence, why C.C. was wounded when she first inherited her code. Same happened with Charles in the World of C.
4. When Lelouch touched Nunnally, Nunnally got a flash of his memories. This ONLY happens when a high potential Geass user touches someone with the fully evolved Geass.
5. The title of the series is “R2″, which is similar to how “C.C” is pronounced. So Lelouch would be “R.R.” which is Engrish (I presume) for L.L., Lelouch Lamprouge.
6. When C.C. is talking on the wagon, she says “the power of Geass brings loneliness…that’s not quite right is it, Lelouch?” and nods her head in the direction of the wagon driver.

More evidence:
Orange knew of Lelouche’s and Suzaku’s plan and helped them out by ordering his men not to fire on Zero, he even smiled when Zerozaku jumped on his shoulder.

Now would Orange, a man who devoted himself entirely to Lelouche and threw away everything without a second thought be OK with a plan where the sole person he wants to protect in life is actually killed? The answer to that is NO, not even if Lelouche ordered him to accept the plan: he would not go along with it and would protect him with his life. There is only one way that Orange would be OK with a plan like that and thats if he knew about Lelouche’s immortality, which I assume he did as he worked with V.V. in the Geass research base. Orange was OK with this plan as he knew Lelouche would come to no harm and would be able to start a new peaceful life with the woman he loves in a world which he himself had made peaceful.

Even at the end, we see Orange on his orange plantation, completely content with the way things have panned out, he definitely could not be that happy had Lelouche actually died.

There it is, firm evidence of Lelouche’s immortality if the scene with C.C. and the cart driver wasn’t painfully obvious enough.

okay as far as your first point couldn't cc be talking to lelouch in c's world? that is where the souls of everyone ends up after all.
and for the second point if charles lost his geass because he took vv's code would he have gotten it back after taking cc's? i don't see how the order would impact the lost of geass but it doesn't tell you in the series so you may be right. and when does it show him transfering his memories to nunally? wasn't nunally able to read a person by holding their hands? when he spoke " i am going to destroy the world, and rebuild it.. maybe she sensed the truth in what he was saying and realized what he had been doing all along? now as for the orange thing he was so devoted to lelouch and his dream that he would be willing to do anything to help his master acomplish it. I think the look in his face shows that he is actualy happy to serve his master in this way. Devotion can just as easily push someone to helping them die as to keeping them alive.
I realize I may be wrong on alot of these points but i felt like i should share my opionion on it at the least.

yes he is 100% dead and i'm with whiteday26 why debate do some fast research he is dead. * unless they really come up with some very long and very stupid on how hes alive after the way he went down

well stranger things have happend in anime series so there is no way to say wheather he is dead or alive.. I frankly just enjoy debating the topic and even though i said it would ruin the ending to the second one i don't think that that would stop me from watching it and that wouldn't make the 3rd one any less impressive if they do it well.

i think he is alive no one would make a plan that reqires there death and people far less intelligent than lulu have faked their death lulu could have faked that entire situation (BTW anime wrighters can lie or change there mind)

1. Not all souls go the the World of C, the only souls to have ever been in there are CC, Lelouch, Charles, Lelouch's mother, and Suzaku. Now only one of the 5 had a geass, Lelouch's mother was already dead but her geass was able to put her soul inside Ayna, Suzaku never formed a contract with anyone with a code, and Charles lost his geass for immortality(code).
2. When did Charles take C.C's code? He was stoped halfway by Lelouch calling to CC and her stoping him. This resulted in the memoryloss by CC in the next few episodes. (VV still had his memories when he lost his code)
3. Nunnaly can't read anyone that well, nor can she acually see what happend at the event. The final episode right before Lelouch "died" Nunnaly grabed his hand and the same event that happend when both Suzaku and Lelouch came in contact with CC in the episode of the first season(the one where Shirly's father was killed).
4. The Orange-kun thing I can truthfuly think could be truth.


But in my honest opinion, (which is posted on page 8) Lelouch is alive.

Hello,

I have no idea what is going on so i am not to optimistic.

But i have checked several versions of The new episode of Canaan (ep 3) and in the middle of it, there is somthin being said in japanese (or its on the screen, i cant tell since i dont understand japanese) and the subtitles translates it to somthing like, "Lelouch was the cartdriver, whatch his and furry Kallens adventures in code geass 3"

I dont know if this is some kind of trolling or w/e, so im asking if any1 here that understands japanese, can tell me what is going on.

I don't say whether Lelouch is dead or alive.

I rather prefer saying that Lelouch is more likely to be alive than dead.

You can prove both the situations and after I went through with all the posts till this page, I'd say he's more likely to be alive than dead.
