Heres some brief information about Afterstory. WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD

Afterstory will be very similar in terms of when Nagisa dies of giving birth as well as it will feature what happens near the end of the movie. Instead of Nagisa's death after giving birth to ushio in the hospital seeing as its not confirmed, There are rumors that instead she will give birth to Ushio but will still live until Ushio is around 2 or 3 years of age. Still Nagisa will still face death because of her sickness that no one is able to cure which will still leave Tomoya in a state of depression.

You'd probably have seen this in the movie a little but, After Nagisa's death, Five years later, Tomoya meets Shino Okazaki, his grandmother on his father's side. Shino explains to Tomoya about his father's past and tragedy, similar to Tomoya's current situation after Nagisa's death. After hearing that, he decides to raise Ushio and acknowledge Naoyuki as his father *Paragraph Taken from Wikipedia*

However what they didn't show in the movie was, after Tomoya decides to raise Ushio, Ushio Like Nagisa, is also struck with the same disease which happen not long after the decision made by Tomoya to raise Ushio. When the upcoming winter came, when Tomoya will do anything to not lose Ushio, he takes her on a trip during this time but however, Ushio falls unconscious and dies shortly after, as well as presumably Tomoya dies, *Tomoya commits suicide perhaps after what happens seeing as im not sure how he does die*.

Anyway, After Ushio's death due to the cause of the sickness/disease, Ushio becomes the girl in the illusionary world while the garbage doll in that world turns out to be Tomoya. Therefore Both Ushio(the girl) and Tomoya (the Garbage doll) are there to collect the happiness around the city and create a miracle to save Nagisa and themselves in that world.

Overall Tomoya and Ushio are reborn in that world, and Tomoya fills time following Ushio around. Tomoya conceives that only the two of them are "alive". To pass time, Tomoya and Ushio try to build another doll with more junk they find, but as it has no soul, it fails to come to life. Eventually, winter sets in, and Ushio becomes cold to the point where she cannot move any more. Remembering a distant world where they came from, Tomoya convinces the girl to build a ship so that the two can escape the winter and continue a happy life. However, their flight is doomed to meet tragedy therefore unable to save and create a Miracle for Nagisa. *Some references taken from Wikipedia*

Most of the features about what happens in the movie here, will be shown in the afterstory in order to conclude the anime series, but however with a few changes(Explained above) to the anime adaption of Afterstory, rather then the movie such as the diferences in the day when Nagisa faces death.

It seems Afterstory anime adaption will be somewhat similar in terms of what happens during the tragic parts and near the end of the movie but with a few minor changes.

Very sad and emotional series none the less but in times like these, we must learn to move on and forget those sad moments we will unpredictably face in our lives.
Like the movie and anime series of clannad as a good example of this.

clannad anime is great...and better than kanon and air(just my opinion)...but there were some error here and then...like popping out fuko out of nowhere and tomoyo+kyou arc is somewhat very short...it seems like there is a bit rush after kotomi's arc...i hope after story is done perfectly because this is the important part of clannad and its a waste if they dont use it appropriately..tomoya+nagisa.....saiiikooooo

@bonvnguyen : hmmm,sounds interesting .But im a bit confused,is the "afterstory" a anime continuation/ova/arc/movie ?...

btw yeah the movie was beautiful, really sad,made me cry :( ...

The afterstory is a continuation from the Clannad anime series by the looks of it. It should come out as an OVA (summarised the things that happened after Tomoya, Nagisa etc.. finished school with a few similarities and diferences from the movie edition of clannad).

I doubt that it would come out as a second season but who knows, anything's possible.

Hmm a second season would be best,around 13 ep's is enough imo :) ...
would be nice to c what happens on afterwards :)

Why does nice anime always make me depressed T^T like to see what happens in after story too coz after seeing the clannad series and moviee,I though there'd be more coz some things are still unclear

True, there are still some things yet to be discovered which aren't shown in the anime but im sure when the rest of the manga/novel near the end (after Tomoya, Nagisa etc... finish school life) is turned into the anime adaption of afterstory,of course with a few diferences from the movie, those things put into the anime adaption of afterstory should conclude the series of clannad.

Most likely, it will be done all in 1 long OVA and less likely as a series.

The series was great and i'm waitting for season 2, but the movie was so sad.
