What do you think of Clannad and Clannad After Story?

like yourself UekiPheonix, I originally skimmed over Clannad after previewing the first episode. Clannad has a lot of content to it, but typically opens by lightly introducing characters and the setting, then expands on their identity and nature through ongoing situations.

as to the relationships that develop, well I must admit to partially enjoying the 'love' triangle situation typical of anime, but Clannad was very influential in showing how important genuine emotions are. After certain developments I only wanted a certain two people to continue together.

another anime recently watched with a similar theme is "White Album". The central character, Toya, is in all defining aspects the opposite of Okazaki. Although this anime was flawed, and what I personally derived was probably not the intent of the show, it demonstrates the dark side of love triangles, where people (typically those who are sincere) get hurt.

getting back to Clannad, I still find it difficult to listen to the opening music from both series, there remains too much association with the stories involved. To end on a happier note:

"best-tah choice...Okazaki-san ! best-ah choice !!"

the sappiness was way too over the top, only got halfway through the first one, the humor in the Fuko arc was the only reason i watched it as long as i did

i haven't finish watching Clannad, but i just want to know, in the very end of story, are Okazaki pair with Nagisa? or with another girl?

i honestly love to see Okazaki x Nagisa, if the end of story is sad, maybe i'll postpone to see this anime (don't like sad ending, ESPECIALLY like School Days)

I absolutely loved Clannad and although I too love the pairing of Tomoya and Nagisa, I also enjoyed both special arcs TomoyoxTomoya and KyouxTomoya. Everything is just tear jerking and it shows you how important family is. And there's also the miracle part of it that makes you so happy.

sorry, i feel a bit confused about your explanation (my english is not good ), in the end of Clannad ~After Story~, Tomoya end up pair with who? is it Nagisa? or other girl?

He ends up with Nagisa in the main series but there are two special episodes, one came out a couple of years ago and it was basically what would happen if Tomoya ended up going out with Tomoyo. The other one came out this year like a month ago I think and that one was about what would happen if Tomoya saw himself in a love triangle with Ryou and Kyou, but it mostly focuses on Kyou.

its Tomoyo arc xD
although its part of the Clannad series, not Clannad After Story :P
