Why Clannad is one of the better drama/romance series

[Contains Spoilers of the series do not read if you don't want to be spoiled]

I'd say Clannad and Clannad ~AfterStory~ are one of the best drama/romance series,
because you can sympathize quite well with the characters IMO
Also because you can sympathize with the characters you start to cry much easier then in an anime were you can't sympathize with the characters.
It is also very good because it goes further then any other anime,
i mean many romance anime are about falling in love and getting together
(the ones i've seen)
But with Clannad (~AfterStory) they start to live together and even get a baby,
One of the cutest characters i've ever seen : Ushio

Another reason why it's good is because characters die.
In many animes characters die. but mostly they get killed.
or if someone died of ex. disease it is mostly a memory.
But here they die of natural causes, ex. Nagisa, because she has a weak body
she dies when giving birth to Ushio.
Also when Ushio dies it's more sad then when any other character dies.
She's just a joyful young kid, and then dieing on such young age is very very sad.

Well This is my opinion about the series,

I whole heartedly agree with you, especially on the whole it making you cry part :P

You really do feel for the characters, I was literally in tears non stop from about episode 17 or so until the last episode (of After Story). Definitely one of my favourite animes.

another reason why i give rate to this anime 11/10 (if i can :D)....still my number 1 favorite anime until now

sadly, idk why this anime is not that popular and can't beat Lucky Star or Haruhi popularity...is it because not so much romance anime lovers out there?

That's right, CLANNAD is one of the best stories ever. It has a unique story that makes me excited for the next episode.

If any Anime could 'hook me' for literally, even if it ran for years it would be this one for sure.

why??????..........because of it's greatness........a story that even me.........who still haven't cried because of an anime......makes me on the verge of crying while watching the series...........a great and unique story indeed..........

hmmm...??? I'm a sucker for romance animes. I liked this one a lot, because not only for a good story, but also because it does not have fantasy elements like Kimagure Orange Road or Onegai Sensei or even Ah! My Goddess!. I liked those, too, but Clannad has this 'real-life' appeal to me, which is why I was able to feel for and identify with those characters a lot more than in other animes. It is a pretty powerful story.
