Anime conventions in general worldwide

Well, since the other anime convention thread is closed, I opened up this thread just for discussions upon how anime conventions are growing to become quite a spectacular event for all anime fans as well as how its getting known to be hosted in parts of many countries worldwide.

Well, if anime conventions were held in several places each in diferent countries, then it would be easier for anime fans in their country to access the convention just near where they live as well as becoming much more known as an event even though each conventions will host different things in terms of the anime series and movies from 2D to 3D the country or anime fans know quite a lot.

If an anime convention was be organised in several parts of the world, then it'd most likely be only hosted in places or locations where they can be known to be attractive or popular as well as whether the location is big enough to host such an event. anyway Its good to see anime conventions seeing as it helps give out some reputation among anime in general for those who may or may not know of it as well as for those who are into anime a lot.

other then that, what are your thoughts upon anime conventions nowadays?

For me, there's nothing wrong with them. I personally will never go to one unless I'm wearing a mask that'll hide my identity from anyone else I personally know because anime is generally looked down upon in my area. But there is absolutely nothing wrong with them. In fact, from what I've heard, they seem to be getting better and better these days.

lol this is true, I'd never want to be seen at one because of fear of getting beat up or killed. Even people who like anime in my area look down on people going to anime conventions

There is a few Anime conventions where I go. It is looked down, but people do not hold it against you. Funny because mostly everyone in my school I have talked to has seen/liked Cowboy Bebop. Its famous around here...I even heard a teacher crack a joke about Spike once.

But I've gone with my face held up high to conventions. I like them, its a great way to meet new people and have fun cosplaying.

if only i had the guts to do something like this. But cosplaying somehow just seems weird to me

People doing cosplays are mostly quite big fans in terms of what anime characters there cosplaying as. I guess cosplay is a way of showing what characters should be seen as popular or good in terms of any anime series there from as well as perhaps to convince viewers to check out that character from that series their from. Only the characters who are known popularly from an anime series will most likely be cosplayed.

and yes its about time i get some comments on my thread. Thank god this thread isn't so useless then. :P

personally, i've never been to a convention, but i've always wanted to go. most of them are usually really far from where i live thought, which totally bites. i don't know if i have the guts for cosplay. it sounds weird and fun at the same time. it's hard to find people in the area who like anime and aren't meanies about it. i think going to an anime convention would be a wonderful way to meet people who are into it the way i am. but if i ever chose to cosplay, the convention would be a fun place to try it out at. at least i won't be the only one doing it. =)
