The English language

I was wondering, is it actually the hardest language to learn?
I want to know everyone elses opinions on this, because its the only language I really know, and ive been told its the hardest one to learn.

Let me know all your opinions on this matter.. Might help me motivate myself to learn another language xD

i don't think so. it is hard to learn, but not the hardest. i would say japanese. i can't seem to learn it, no matter how hard i try.

I know some people who are learning the language, and they don't think it's extravagantly difficult. I have heard that Japanese is the hardest, too.

I would rank it (English) as 'difficult' to learn at a mature age, however the younger you are the more you will get out of it both in terms of comprehension and understanding.

same opinion here as well.
tho since english is really spread arround the world it will be used by people alot so it is more easy to get used to english and we can get familier with words more easily , hence even though it is rather little difficult as an language it is easy to learn due to the high use.

But keep in mind that there are more complex and hard to learn languages.
Eng may not be as easy has espanish but when you get the " hang " of it , mastering it is not that hard at all ( I talk from my personal exp , lol )

Well english is really really easy..
the grammatics of my own language are harder for me then english so.. xD

Compared to Russian i would say it is easy ( especially in grammar point ).

In saying all that, I still hear its a hard one to learn.. But what Ueki said makes alot of sense in the theory that because it is such a vast language used over the entire world, it becomes easier because alot of children are learning it at an early age.

But lets say, you only knew your stock language, be it spanish, german etc etc.. At the age of 20, how would you fare coming to learn the English language?

20 you say ... Well, if you are german, learning english will not be a problem. But if you are spanish, most likely english will seem to you to be preaty hard ...
Also don't forget languages like chinese, japanese, korean, etc. No matter what people say they are hard-to-learn in fact for others.
