english translation

i dont know if this is the right place for this so srry if it was the wrong one...
my quistion is: have any1 ever noticed that the english sub is sometimes a little wrong???? after watching tons of anime i started noticing some words not translated right so i decided to check my theory.... soo i download an anime that was translated by 2 differing sub groups(not the same episode but very close episodes that have the same opening theme song) and the translation from each sub group was very different from the other!!!!!!!!! sooo how can we trust that what we are reading is right?????

The fact is you can't, unless you are directly translating it yourself it will always be done at the liberty of the group that is translating it. Same thing is true with dubbs. But the thing is most of the fan-sub groups do not mistranslate to try to screw with the readers, they do it because at times things to not directly translate into the english language. Also there is not always a clear meaning when doing the translations. Sometimes it can be taken several different ways and the fansub group after looking at the context of the show sub it to what they believe is best.

There are some sub's out there that are just terrible, but if an episode is released by a quality fansub group go with theirs if you are concerned about quality. But as long as you are enjoying it what does a few misplaced words really matter?

loooool i guess u r right :) there is actually an episode in soul eater that i watched twice and it was like 2 different episodes so it was double the fun :D

but also movies and mangas not in
animea but in other forums i guess
u r not the only one who suffering haha

I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?
