i don't no if anyone has posted something about this but i'll ask. somewhere i read that god has little impact on us today. I'm not sure wether to believe that or not, but what do you think? i kinda belive it's true since there are those who say they don't belive in god like it's no big deal. its like one really pay attention to religion anymore.

Actually.. I am a person with no interest in religion.. If there is a God then there is.. I believe in him (coz many people do so).. and yes.. it's no big deal. I pray, I worship on my own.. and also.. I have a mind of a philosopher.. I think logically and the like so sometimes I also ask myself: Is there really a God?..

I know that's wrong but I want to seek for the answer/truth..

thank you Qawls. it's good tat one believes in god and all, but it seems that people question god's existence more and more. i have found myself to do so a couple of times and i feel odd about it, but one can't help but wonder if he is real or not. it's hard to belive in a being that you have never seen or meet before. if he does exist, i mean no offense, but its in human nature to be curious.

maybe people took for granted that there is a God because of the wonderful creations we see that humans cannot create.. I am one of the believers.. even if I or we didn't meet Him in person.. we met/saw/consumes his creations that made us believe that He exists.. and that would be enough proof..

It's also human nature to seek guidance and fulfillment, that's why we have religion,
the question isn't, 'Do we believe in god', it's, 'Is it worth believing in god'. The benefits I receive from following a religion are immense.
You're asking the wrong questions.

The people that question Gods existence are non-believers, atheists and have no sense of humility.

ouch. but i guess you're right. i have strayed form a path and i hope to get back on it once i figure things out. it's very hard to believe when you feel lost or depressed frequently and you feel like nothing helps.

I've never really been a believer - so the idea of a god has not made a massive impact on my life spiritually. It sure has made an impact on my life socially as I see the world around me become of two - believers and non believers. Both sides argue against the other, and both sides have their faults equally. Plus it bothers me greatly when somebody tells me they've prayed for me. I understand the sentiment behind it, but it still bothers me.

There are MANY believers who do not posess one ounce of humility. How many hardcore evangelicals do you see that make money out of their religion? I doubt they are being humble at all when they are making massive 'churhces' and driving rather fancy cars and living in very well off homes. Where is the humility there? Not exactly a person who's thinking humbly of themselves in my perspective. *shrugs* Why is it that someone who questions the existence is simply labelled a non believer? I think that is rather harsh. You could still be a believer in a god, but just feel like you need just some more evidence for yourself.. it just doesn't make you a devout believer. People wonder why 'god has forsaken them' then they start to think about if someone is truly there for them. It doesn't turn them into a non believer in an instant. People should be freely allowed to be able to question their belief in god without being instantly segregated. Also I was just having a look at what humility means in other religions - not just christianity and this is what I turned up:

Chan (Zen) Master Li Yuansong states that enlightenment can come only after humility - the wisdom of realizing one's own ignorance, insignificance, and lowliness, without which one cannot see the truth.

this is from a buddhism. There are many people not affiliated with a religion who carry this sense of humility with them everyday. I understand that humility is linked with a religion, but here we can see that the notion of humility can also apply to non believers. Enlightenment can mean a myriad of things - it doesn't necessarily mean you are on a higher spiritual ground than before. It could mean that you now have better control of your life and that you have discovered what your life truly means to you - without the link to a god.

A majority of people don't pay attention to religion anymore as most of it is spiralling out of control, and is just not up to modern times. We see the pope advocate to the african 3rd world to not use condoms when they're plagued with HIV and AIDS. We see radical Islamists doing atrocious things to it's own people as well as the western world, thus giving the rest of the world of Islam a bad tag. We see hardcore evangelicals and christians on tv saying Obama is the f****ing anti-christ, murdering doctors who perform abortions and say that (i apolgise for my rudeness but i am just quoting some statements) "fags should die and that HIV is gods weapon towards fags". Do you see where I am going here? We live in a world where the majority of the 'mainstream' religions are governed by the most ignorant of people. Nobody wants to really be apart of that, so they're moving away. We live in such modern times , I guess alot of people don't want to be bogged down with 16th century 'ideals' when the rest of the 21st century is moving on and they're not going to wait for them.

People are free to worship as they wish, I just don't appreciate some comments from believers (not in this forum) that I have no sense of morals when clearly I do. I'm not going to go and hurt people for the fun of it, and I give to others when I can financially and emotionally.

Anyway, this is all just my perspective as a non believer in an ultimate god. I am not atheist - but I am just a non believer. I realise that sounds silly and many might think I am making a contradiction. Sorry for taking up alot of forum space also!
