There is also a French song that is taught to kids about a little birdie that you end up breaking it's neck. My sister translated it for me when she was taking french in college. There is stuff like this all around us and we don't even know it...and people say violent video games are bad lol

I think fairy tales were made so that children can have their moments out of reality because their too young for computer games or books. We have our Anime and video games, and they have their fairy tales. :)

I did an essay on faerie tales when I was in college. My favorite, if you can find it, is the Tinder Box. Another is the Swan Princess a girl who's brothers were turned into swans and in order to save them she had to make shirts out of stinging nettles. As part of it shou could not make any sound. Now I've been stung by nettles and they have always produced a loud scream from anyone I know who has contacted them. So she harvests nettles and makes shirts until she is found by a king who wants to marry her because she's so gosh darn pretty. But she won't talk or make a sound so eventually the king is forced to judge her a witch and she is to be burned at the stake. All this time she is still making shirts. Tied to the stake the fire is lit, she's making shirts and the swans show up to rescue the girl. Story over she gets to marry the king and everyone lives happily ever after. Except for the youngest brother. She didn't have time to finish his shirt and was missing a sleeve so he spent the rest of his life with one wing. Faerie tales can have a powerful effect on people. A study done recently shows that ~68% of the worlds population believe in wizards, elves, faeries, angels, demons, dragons and the like. In many cases the argument is, you believe in god so why not everything else. Do you believe?
