I didnt really know what to call this thread but yeah here we go. Basically i live in Osaka Japan and if theres any pictures or information about japan you want just gimmi a shout. Anything at all from Visa information to how much is a can of coke ill try my best to answer it.

Here's a question: What things in (for lack of a better word) realistic/based on actual Japanese life anime are if fact true and what aren't? I'm thinking of all the things on Lucky Star, if that helps to clarify. o_0

I havnt seen or read that anime sorry but i just looked at some clips on the internet quickly. Well the wa most high school or school based animes show the school is correct, the way the actuall show japan is pretty true to what its like, the style of the schools and buildings is all perfect, i mean to some degree even the uniforms are pretty close to what its like, on anime the always show the girls uniforms to be a little sluttyer than how the but dam some days i see things just the same hahah

Bleach is a good example, the way they show school life is spot on in so many respects, the way bleach shows what a city suburb is like is perfect. The only thing animes so obviousl is have characters and situations that are waaaaay larger than life. Japanese people are obsessed with the "rules" the kinda unspoken rules of life that exist and you very quickly get used to, this goes out the window in anime. Sinilarly some of the japanese language used in anime is just not spoken at all at a coversational level in japan.

takuyakis are so yum yum ... and they have bigger takuyaki's than the ones i tasted before ... oh i wish I could have some ... the takuyaki stand looks much cleaner than the hotdog stand near my school ... thanks for posting this picture ryu, it really made my day :)

How are the costs there? I've heard that a gardener can earn like 2 grands! is that true? if it is how much would he spend on a week on for food and the basics? thanks a lot :D

PS: No, i do not want to become a Japanese gardener :P, just curious ^^!

I dont know about gardeners sorry lol but costs of living depend on many factors. On average i spend about 6 or 7000yen a week on food. Thats about 35pounds or 70 dollars. If you live in a mansion (apartment) thats gunna cost around 50 to 70,000yen a month, then you have gas, water, electric, internet and mobile phone. So your looking at 120,000yen a month to live. Thats around 600pounds so 1200dollars. Living aint cheap here. And im in osaka, costs even more in tokyo. But the food itself is cheap, its just rent that makes things expsensive. I mean you can get takoyaki (see above picture) 6 for like a dollar. Cheap as chips. BUT makudo (mac donalds) and kfc cost more in japan.

Is it common place for cousins to marry in Japan
In a few romance animes and mangas (not hentais)
I have watched and read there were cousins engaged to each other
or romantically involved with each other
and it wasnt made out to be taboo or improper

Hmmm i dont know so much about incest law in japan, its not as strict as west, i mean for example the royal family in japan practiced it, but then again what royal family hasnt? As far as i know they divide familys into levels or catergorys and depending on which category that family member falls into decides whether marriage is acceotableor not.

However when it comes to manga its a case of anything goes, things that would be hella taboo in the west just seem to be accepted as the norm here, it doesnt mean there openly talked about, oh hell no. But its just like they not really THAT bad cause its everywhere, dudes reading hentai manga on the train, i see that everyday its just normal. I mean ffs they watch Octopus porn and read salmon hentai here. So like i said for manga and anime anything goes really.
