The True Value of Money

What is the true Value/Worth of Money for us humans?
money is just a piece of paper material, can be burned, cut, crumpled, write your name on it, etc. you can even eat your bills. But people do everything just to have money, they commit crimes, kill people, do illegal work just to have this piece of paper. I wanna have your opinions/comments on this.

in 7th grade, i was asked what makes money money. thery really are just peices of paper, but what makes money something with value is the fact that we believe in it. so i guess that the fact that people do things for money is just greed. people are naturally greedy and saying that you aren't is saying you are not human...

You should look at this matter from different angles. What would each nation be without a currency? We would plummet into chaos.
Our lives revolve around surviving in the present + future, financially. At the age of 5 we begin twelve years of education, which in the long run circulates around finishing school, to accomplish some what of a good career to make a living. We are practically put on this earth to earn a living, we wouldn't survive otherwise. So in my opinion there is nothing more rewarding than a decent education, and a high paying job, I think we'd all agree. So to conclude ask yourself this, 'If I don't believe money is everything, why not earn enough to survive on and be done with it?'

Money is a hammer.
In other words, it's a tool used by people to determine how much value an object has. Is this skirt worth $10 or $60? Is this scottish fold cat worth $5 or $100?
Yes, unfortunately people view money through their own subjective eyes leading to crime, greed, etc. We have to believe that money has value otherwise what would be the point? It would be worthless and we wouldn't be able to buy anything. It would undermine capitalism and we would be living in a communist society or in an economy based on trade.

Money makes the world go around. Money makes us funny and it also makes us go bananas.
I don't put a lot of value on my money. I get as much as to just live by. Money is worthless to me. Now who wants free money ?

Money is what the individual makes of it, some people will love it, some will hate it. Personally I don't mind for it, as I see money just enhances my experience by making me able to take my friends to dinner, or just hanging out and buying something.

Hmm, i should probably stay the hell out of this thread but too late now, i already started typing.

money is the system that evolved from trading gold. it once had material value as it represented actual resource. now it is simply a value given to products and services. it is a system designed to make sure everybody is working hard and contributing the the community/species. it is also a system designed to keep thoes in power, with power (financial power). it is also the reason for pollution, most crime, alot of suffering. but it also has its usefulness of being able to work for it and use it for almost anything. with the number of people who live in this plannet now, it would be impossible to sustain us with out money or a similar system. ie, there isnt enough land for everyone to hervast their own crops and raise their own livestock, we need farms etc. it is a great system but it has reached a point where it is out of control (inflation, poverty, foreclosure, corruption etc). the monetary/banking system is in severe need of reform.
