Default Out of print manga volumes?

Has anyone else been having this problem? About a year and a half ago
I stopped buying the manga series Basara because I was a poor college
student and my budget was tight. Now I'm out of college and actually
have money and the volumes I need are... nowhere to be found. Volumes
19 & 20 of Basara are suddenly the holy grail of anime fandom. I
looked everywhere online and the only place I found selling volume 20
it was going for 300 dollars! WTF? I'll be a cold day in hell before
I pay that much money for a manga volume.

As there an announcement by Viz that titles were going out of print
that I missed? Or did it just stealthly go out of print in a sublte
'screw you, you should have been paying attention' sort of way?

If its just a question of reading the series, have you considered checking
at your local public library? I just checked our city library's on-line
catalogue and they have the Basara graphic novels up to volume 27. (They
have a collection of translated manga that has me shaking my head in
disbelief.)

Good luck -

GTO vol. 10 (German edition). Took me almost 2 years to find someone
selling her collection, so I could snatch it.

Right now there seems to be a price breaker over at Amazon, selling it
for "mere" 80 bucks. ;)

Just checked, lists 4 copies of 19 for just under 10.00 (plus shipping and
handling), but they're in Germany and in German. No listings for 20 at this
time. Keep an eye on it though.

Are 19 and 20 the only two you're missing? What would you be willing to
pay for them (retail or lower or what?). There are quite a few places
around where I live that might actually have them. If you're interested,
of course. Although all of my local sources sell manga for retail price,
so that's probably as good as you're going to get (from here).

Email me if you're interested, mind the spam trap. (also, do you live in
the US or Canada or?)

And only those volumes are out of print,
all others still available? This is odd.

Well, I got the impression that they're all out of print, but that
some stores still have a few of the other volumes. I was able to find
21- to the end of the serires a month ago when I first started
looking. The last volume in the series only came out a few months
ago. The search is hampered by the fact that tons of sites have the
series name listed as Basara 19 for some reason. Even though the
series is obviously named Basara right there on the cover. Learned
that the hard way by ending up with an extra volume 7.

Well, then here is the cover for Basara 19:

Er, no offense intended but do you know japanese? Just because the
picture is of the english version, doesn't necessarily mean the
description is the english version... That's a lot of money to spend
on an if. Pictures of manga are wrong all the time unfortunatley.
Thanks for trying to help though. I apprettiate the effort.
