main character L and light both dead at the end of the anime :| i don't really consider near and mello main character. They are just duplicates of L. If there is a sequel, Near is taking over L's place?

Well if you've finished watching it, then you should know that theres not going to be a sequal. If so, its going to kill it. I think the editors also knew L was a popular character and with out him, well, it just wouldnt work.

The ending was magnificent, but I was really sad when Light died. I know he was crazy but I still cried my eyes out. I wonder how Misa reacts too it.

On L's death, I was hurt 10 x more than the ending. After that, the series was no longer about catching Kira, but rather, Near's and Mello's attempts to avenge L. That's how I see it.

When L died i was quietly weeping. L made Death Note awesome. I hesitated watching Episodes 26 ~ 37 because i knew they weren't going to be as good without L.
Near was good but not the same and yeah, i agree, Mello is a poof. .__.

I was manically cackling when Light died, sure, it wasn't as epic as i thought it was gonna be but watching L stand over Light gave me the impression that L had finally won.

Without L the show will not be Interested...The show will totally Boring...The show is awesome by L...

@Sumita I disagree with you there. Even if there would be no L, im sure there will always be another character similar to L that will stand up against Light as well as eventually winning in the end.

Even when L died, the anime was still interesting consider Near/Mello who work together, surpassing L in terms of outwitting Light. Of course they outsmarted him in the end and thats what happens when you try to be god XD

@Sakura True. L wins in the end.
