How did Light die...

Light died because he was simply outsmarted by Mello and Near. The plan Light had in mind was to let Near and the authorities hang onto the fake deathnote with all the pages replaced so that the authorities think they have the real deathnote. Seeing as Mikami did all the judgements, he had the real deathnote but how Mello and Near outsmarted Light was due to the fact that Near got his one of his authority's to check Mikami's deathnote to see if its real or fake while having possesion of the other fake deathnote. Afterwards we were told that Near got Mello to replace all the pages of the deathnote Mikami had in his locker just before he got in the truck and killed by Takeda. Therefore with all pages being replaced, Light lost completely and died.

Near + Mello = L > Light = L wins hahahha.
