Your Top Two Recommended Animes!

Now this thread may need to be moved, I know there are similar threads already out there asking you to state your top favorite animes. But this is for all the people who do request threads, maybe they could find one place for peoples favorites and see what gets recommended the most often?

So IF YOUR GOING TO POST HERE, ONLY LIST TWO!! don't go listing dozens of them because then it will make it harder for people to choose. If someone has already recommended your two fav's that's ok, the more often it's recommended the more it shows it's a good one to watch.

Try to include your genre and maybe a brief description of it if you like. Compare it to similar animes.

Here goes mine:

Number 1: For me it's Fullmetal Alchemist, I really like talking about this series and enjoy nearly everything that has to do with it. I think this would be in the adventure genre. The storyline involves two brothers who attempt to use alchemy to bring back their mother. A great series with a great story-line that goes full circle. Followed by a terrific movie.

Number 2: Would most likely be Death Note. This one is popular with many many people so if you haven't seen it yet you'll most likely want to. It's more in the suspense genre. The story involves a high school student who is at the top of his class and he discovers the ability to kill simply by writing down someones name in a notebook. From there an epic battle of wits ensues between him and the worlds most famous detective named "L". Three live action films follow a slightly different story line but are also really good.

Even though Fma is my favorite, I would probably recommend Death Note over it, I don't think I've ever heard a negative word against this series.

Please try to be as descriptive as possible without spoiling the anime.

1. Lovely Complex is a shojo anime and one of my all time favourites - has a high 'watch again' value. I am not sure if this is popular or not, but I definitely suggest all shojo fans or fans of romance give this a try :) It's about Risa and Otani - 2 friends in high school - Risa is 172cm and Otani is 155cm. Both are always feeling down about their height - and often think it effects them with finding a boyfriend/girlfriend. This anime sees them through their whole 3 years of high school. They set up a bet and wager that one of them will have a partner before the other. Before too long one of them develops strong feelings for the other and tries their best to hide it, but of course can't hold it in any longer and the hilarity ensues! It combines romance and comedy, and I think it does a great job balancing them out :) I also think this is a more realistic romantic anime. I think alot of the jokes made were also pretty great. They weren't too cliche or cheesey so it made for a nice break between the romantic/serious moments.

2. Antique Bakery not sure what to classify this as -perhaps shojo again? - it contains very mild yaoi themes - 2 of the workers are gay, but it's not like they spend every episode all over each other. I would definitely say this is a more mature anime. It is based on a bakery called Antique that specialises in french cakes. It's only a short anime at 12 episodes It is based upon its 4 workers - Tachibana, Eiji, Ono, Chikage. Tachibana was kidnapped as a child and was only fed cakes during that time (he's the son of a very wealthy family) - so he has developed a dislike of cake - but still has decided to open and run Antique. He is also the waiter and maitre de in the bakery Eiji, the apprentice chef used to be a boxer before he was forced to retire due to an injury. He loves sweets more than anything and loves his new job. Ono, the head chef, is gay and finds himself in a few sticky situations regarding his love life. Chikage, the waiter, is also Tachibana's body guard. He's a shy loveable character who is attracted to Ono but is scared to carry through the motions. All in all - the situations portrayed are rather realistic emotionally. If you love cake - you're going to be drooling over the animation. They have done really well in drawing some very pretty and rather tasty looking cakes!
By the way, this anime has one of the best opening songs I have ever heard. Very addictive!

1. Bleach: Good anime overall, good story to it, lots of great character development and its a very popular anime. Starts off with the main character Kurosaki Ichigo, 15 years old, highschool student and has always had a strange power since a young age of being able to see and speak to spirits. Well im not gonna go to far into it because knowing me ill spoil it. So, its a highly recommended anime. 239 episodes so far, still ongoing.. Great enjoying anime.

2. Nogizaka: Its an anime about anime? What more needs to be said, really? It has romance, highschool, otaku's and comedy.. Good anime. It is about a girl named Nogizaka who is the most beautiful girl in school, she does well at her studies and piano. Every guy wants to get to know her but she rejects each one, until her secret is revealed to 1 guy who she wishes to spend time with and such. Good anime if your into that sort of stuff, only 12 episodes long, can watch it in a night :).

Well thems my two recommendations, enjoy!

This is a tough one,hmm,let me see... :

1. Gungrave : basically the best anime i ever watched,period.The story is really excellent and so is the plot ,i will not tell u whats it about etc,ill post a link to a review at the end of the paragraph.The animation is pretty good,but the characters are really realistic and have good development throught out the whole story,which is really complex,mature and well thought out :) a deff.must watch.

2. Code Geass 1 & 2 : Basically this is flawless ,it would my 1. if i wasnt in love with Gungrave so much :) The main char is brilliant ,one of the best ever,same as GG,the story and plot are both very good,and will keep you stuck to the screen the entire time :) Excellent animation and good adaptation,is more childish then GG,i mean one of it's genres is slice of life ,if it didn't have that part,it would be the perfect anime.

Well mine are

1.Code Geass R1 and R2.
As ACA-san already mentioned this anime has a great flow. Also it has such a great story. The level of suspence is at equal to that of Death Note. Also the main story always stay tru to its main theme without shifting to another direction. Overall its an great anime.

2. xxx Holic S1 , Kei and OVA(s).
This anime is totally diffrent than your average day to day anime. Even though it belongs to the supernatural genere its not some random ghost hunting story. This anime covers alot of super natural facts that we experiance in our day to day life and then in the later half the sotry develops in a very interesting way ;)

My Two Anime Recommendations:

Higashi no Eden (Eden of the East)

Eden of the East is an brilliant adventurous anime, that seems completely different from others, almost like it was an experimental anime. It has amazing comedy value and enough suspence that will leave you on your toes.
This is not an anime that explains itself for you, and you often have to work with it to understand what is happening. Its clever anime with intelligent characters and for 11 Episodes, defiantly worth a shot!

Darker than Black

Darker than Black takes place in a near future world where two gates appeared, Heaven's Gate and Hell's Gate. The mysterious appearance of these gates brought with them the "Contractors" - People with in human abilities because of the contract made with a unknown force.
As the story progresses more and more information is revealed for you to work with, since this also dosent exactly explain it all for you. It can feel a little episodic towards the 3/4 period, however it does kick in to give the perfect ending and leaves you wanting more for sure!

Clannad / Clannad After Story :
the main protagonist are Tomoya and Nagisa...this anime is about relationship between friends, lovers, and family...this is my favorite anime (i've never seen someone give a bad review on this anime even though for some reason that i still don't know, this anime is not so popular if you compared it with Death Note or Lucky Star T~T)

Honey and Clover season 1 and 2 :
the main protagonist is Takemoto, the story is about how Takemoto and his friends trying to find a "meaning of life" and deal with their problems....it's so funny and romantic (the season 2 become more serious)....imo this is a very good anime, you should watch it ^^

PS: i'm sorry that i can't describe very well, my english is not so good
