Chapter II “Welcome.” Amamiya’s voice came from behind a bush “To the GGSG.” “What the heck!? GGSG? What is that!?” Asako asked annoyed that we had to leave aunty alone in her house in the middle of the night. “Ghost Gate Search Group, is what it stands for.” Amamiya said, his handsome features clearly visible under the moon. “Asako’s just annoyed that we had to leave in the midde of the night, that’s all.” I said a cheeky grin on my face. “Yeah, we had to wait awhile for you guys.” Amamiya pointed to Shinku almost invisible behind the bush. “Shinku, are you sure you want to come?” Asako asked concerned. Shinku nodded and Asako smiled a little.
“Did you guys bring enough food and money?” Amamiya went through his fully packed back pack and threw each of us some food. “Dinner just in case you didn’t eat like me.” He said taking a big bite. “I brought a lot of money and food” Shinku said crawling out from behind the bush. “Same here, we brought some weapons too.” Asako said giving me the funny look “Because someone said we might need it.” I smiled, “Well, you never know. They just might come in handy!” I pulled out a sword and Amamiya examined it. “Pure gold and these are true gems too.” He ran his fingers along the edge of the blade “This costs a fortune.” He chucked it back at me and continued to eat his piece of bread. “My father called this the Devil’s Sword. Said he got it from my grandmother who was a devil.” I laughed quietly and asked “So, where and when are we going?” “Follow me.” Amamiya said through a mouthful of bread and cheese.
So we walked for what seems like hours in the darkness only able to see what’s right in front of us. A few times the moon became covered by clouds and we held hands to keep together. No matter what happened we just followed Amamiya. “Hey Amamiya, how do you know which way to go?” Asako asked suspiciously. “I just know things. In a few days’ time we will be at the foot of that mountain and we will have to endure the pain of climbing that terribly cold mountain.” Amaiya turned his back towards Asako and faced me “Can you fight?” he pointed at my sword. “Yeah, why?” I lifted my sword up and passed Amamiya another sword from my backpack. “Let’s test you out shall we?” Amamiya held up the sword and swung it from side to side. “Alright the…” I was cut off by a sudden shadow that rushed out from behind a tree and snatched both mine and Amamiya’s sword. “Hey, did you not read the rule book of this town?” Came a harsh yet gentle voice.
Chapter III “Rule Books are not needed for us. We’re just trespassing.” Amamiya said coldly. “Trespassing eh? Then all the more of a reason to need the rule book.” The owner of the voice stepped out into the moonlight. The boy was wearing a nice and comfy looking sweatshirt with a pair of jeans on. His face was slightly covered in dirt and he looked like he had just groomed some sort of big animal. “Well, you see. We are going to leave soon so why bother to read a rule book??” Amamiya questioned him. “It will help, trust me.” He lifted up a sword and swung it towards Amamiya “You see, these weapons are forbidden and it will cost you a fine of 5000 Marias for each of these he nodded at my bag.” “Marias?” Asako stepped forward “What are Marias?” “You, don’t know?” The boy looked astonished. “Tell them.” Amamiya pressured.
“....I don’t know what to say...” The boy was frustrated “Just go back to wherever you came from and don’t come back here!” He hissed “This isn’t the place for little kids like you to be playing around. Go back, now!” He pushed us lightly towards where we came from and said “Listen, you shouldn’t come here. This isn’t your world....” “No, we have a quest to accomplish, a very important one too.” Amamiya growled. “A quest? That doesn’t matter. But judging by your appearance and what you said before....” He looked Amamiya up and down “Werewolf, you know what Marias are. Go on, tell them.” “Werewolf? Amamiya, what does he mean?” I asked suspiciously
“Nahh, he’s just joking. Werewolf? Pfft... Please!” The boy chuckled “I see, so you’re just a normal human being?” “Yeah, what do you think? Of course!” Amamiya laughed. “Heh, so what’s with that big Maria hanging on your neck?” The boy smirked. “STOP IT!” Came a cute voice, we all spun around. “Shinku??” Asako was worried. “It’s okay Shinku, we’ll leave this place soon.” I said softly. “Listen, you.” I looked straight at the boy. “Amamiya is not a werewolf and we don’t have any idea what a Maria is. So let us leave and go on our way please.”
The boy looked at Shinku and then back at me. “Fine, do whatever you want. But you must leave those weapons behind.” He pointed at my bag. “Sure, sure. Do whatever you want....” I threw my bag at him and turned around. “Come, let’s go.” “Wait!! Take this, as an exchange for these weapons.” He chucked a Necklace filled with sparkling gems on them to me. “Marias.” He whispered before turning around and heading back the way he came from. I looked at the necklace. “So, these must be Marias.” Without looking up I said “The same as the stones on both Amamiya’s and Shinku’s necklaces. Yeah?” I looked at them. Both of them were looking away, a nervous expression on their faces. “Come on. Let’s go, if we don’t hurry up we’ll never make it!”
We walked for what seemed like another eternity until Amamiya slowed down to ask if anyone was tired. We were all tired, in fact even Amamiya looked tired from all that walking and arguing with that boy. “I think we’re still trespassing, eh?” Amamiya looked around “Yeah, it seems so, this place gives off the same feeling. Quiet, neat and tidy.” I sighed tiredly “So, let’s stop by a inn and get some rest.” Amamiya smiled. “That’s a wonderful idea, I think my shoes are going to rip from all that walking!!” Asako exclaimed looking down at her feet. “I-I agree with Asako san...” Shinku said shyly taking a step forward “Alright then, let’s get some rest and have a good night’s sleep.” Amamiya once again, took lead.
We found a nearby inn and rented a room. As soon as we took a bath we were all fast asleep. No one heard the doors creaking open, no one woke up as we were carried into a different room. No one heard the doors being locked as we were separated from the rest of the world, trapped in our own dreams...stolen from our privacy and comfort. No one knew anything until the next morning...
Chapter IV Amamiya was the first to wake up... “Hey!! All of you!!! Get up!!!!” Amamiya tried to wake us. “Mmmmm....” I could hear Asako murmuring quietly to herself. “Hey, Haine, Get up!!” Amamiya shook me lightly. “???What’s wrong??” I opened an eye. “We’re not in the inn anymore, look around you...” He said quietly.... “Not in the inn??” I looked around slowly, taking in my surroundings..... “Say, you’re not kidding right??” I was shocked, the inn that had been so comfortable had in one night turned into a jail like place.... “Get up!!! Asako!!!” I heard Amamiya whisper harshly. “Amamiya, are we still in that place??” I took a deep breath. “Are we still in that town?” “Yeah, I would say so...” He grabbed Asako’s arm and dragged her up. “GET. UP.” “Kyaaaaahhhh!!!!!!!!” Asako screamed, “Wha-wha-what do you think you’re doing!?”
