Ha! That was great. I don't get ginger too often. "Firecrotch" is a lot more common. Most of the prejudice I "suffer" is mostly meant to be humorous in nature, so I don't really take offense.

In semi-related news, I was walking through a part of Los Angeles called Highland Park a week or so ago and a guy stopped me on the street to say, "Oh my god, a white boy! They do exist!"

Got another late start on this month's story. Went through two ideas that wouldn't come together. I generally like piece things together in my pretty meticulously head before I do any writing. First idea was about a sorcerous hooker who stole something and the ex-assassin trying to find her. The second was about two people who claimed to be magicians, but just end up shooting people instead. Like I said, I wasn't getting anywhere, so I just picked a word that came to mind and started writing. At least all that time I spent thinking won't go to waste.

Life happened. In an unpleasant, intrusive sort of way. Should have a story in for this next one though.

Somehow I get the feeling that I'm nowhere near as funny in person. Hell, I still find it difficult to believe that I'm amusing in text form. I really should find somewhere to submit my stories for pocket change, but I'm still ridiculously self-conscious about my writing abilities. I keep telling myself "man up, you wuss!" Somehow it's not very effective.

Whatever, I think I may have an idea for the next story. This time I should probably start before I feel like I have to rush. Although last time I tried to write space opera I read it back to myself, said "never again," and then crumpled of the piece of paper into a little ball. At that point I'd still been aping other people's writing styles rather than trying to find my own though.

Hehe, I guess practice in the end makes you improve... But yeah, I'll stick with the monthly contest after all :) In the end, some things can't really be developed through practice. Like your sense of humor, that's a skill that makes your stories great. You should be able to earn some money by writing, but I guess laziness isn't an ally for this :D
