well i dont think they still use the kind of swimming course i went through (the throw you in and you try staying above water kind), so you got nothing to worry :)
and yes i do consider it as fun^^ and i am sure you ll do great and find it fun, but i dont really remember the learning part i was to young to fully remember it, so i cant say the learning part is fun XD but i hope it is for you^^
